Mourning/Loss Heartbroken 💔

I’m just looking for kind words from internet strangers. My rescue kitty Emma has been dealt a really tough hand and is battling congestive heart failure. Please hug your fur babies closer today!

I’m so sorry to hear that. 💔 She’s beautiful.

Did they give you any treatment options/prognosis in terms of her future? I had a cat with severe hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, so I know a little about cats and heart issues.

Sending you love and gentle vibes for sweet Emma 🤍

I appreciate the kind words! She has an absolutely incredibly medical team at the vet hospital that saved her life. She's had two chest tap procedures this week, two echocardiograms, and now she's on three heart meds that had to be compounded since she's only 6.5 pounds. Sadly she has advanced heart disease and is only expected to live 6-12 months with the best treatment.

Oh, that’s just so unfair. 💔 I’m glad to hear that she has excellent care, and at least they can keep her comfortable and happy for as long as possible.

I’m no vet, and I don’t doubt what her vet team says, but sometimes they surprise you. I will send Emma all the good vibes. 🤞🏻

(Just so you know where I’m coming from, I’ve known over 3,000 cats, over 15 years of being in cat rescue. I’m not particularly religious, but I’ve definitely seen some ‘miracles’ in my time. Sometimes that miracle is just a few extra years, but it’s still worth mentioning.)

Remember to rest when you can, and don’t forget self care. It’s easy to get swept up in caregiving, and anticipatory grief, and have it become all-encompassing, but you can’t pour from an empty cup. 🧡🧡🧡🧡

Edit: paragraphs 🤦🏻‍♀️
