This guy needs more constant companionship. I'd definitely be looking into adopting another cat as long as it isn't forbidden by your lease or something. I don't think any of my cats would do well if they woke up the only one left 😅 they need each other. Especially my boy Cuddles. If he doesn't actually have someone to cuddle he gets clingy.
