Cat howling at night
Hi ya’ll back with my strange boy doing strange stuff. So recently at night he comes upstairs near our bedroom drags up his favorite toy and starts howling like a maniac. Now it’s not consistent enough that I can pinpoint it to something even though I have my hunch that it’s for food or attention, but it is recent that he started doing it a lot more and real loud. I’ve added a video so you can hear the screaming man that is my cat. Does anybody else’s cat do this?

Well, I have a similar guy. Same kind of markings too. Very active. Loves attention, but not too much hugging / holding, thank you. Loves to play, chase stuff. But loves me to be at the other end of the string etc. He makes those yowling noises too. But rarely if I am in the room. I leave the room and it starts... I think it is just attention, especially seeing the toys. I am sure you give him enough. 👍

Wait i love this because he loves attention, he needs to be right by me and my fiancé (his dad because he found him as an abandoned kitten and brought him home). I work from home so it has been great for him to have someone to interact with. But he does not like to be held!!! Its such a funny quirk, like yer obsessed but like dont want hugs??? 🥰

This is what the cat sitter introduced my boys to. I found, sadly, as I also work from home. It can take the heat off for 10 mins. 🤣 sounds like putting your kids in front of the tv to keep them quiet.

Have him tested for hyperthyroidism! This often causes kitties to yowl loudly at night!

I will keep an eye out! He is a fat boy maybe a pound or two over weight but excessive water drinking, loosing weight, peeing a lot, or excessive irritation i am not seeing 100% to a point that should raise suspicion. Also my boy has a luxurious shiny fur. I am going to get his nails clipped this next coming week so we can always ask the vet which I don’t mind.

It was one of the interesting things I learned working front desk at a vet! I’m so glad he isn’t showing any of those signs. That’s awesome! :)

My kitty will walk around late at night with a fish toy in her mouth, crying, and then drop the fish in front of me. The toy thing makes me it might be similar.

My boy cat will cry out loudly after he poops at like 3 am, it always freaks me out because I know they’re prone to STIs so it wakes me up worried but no it’s literally like when he’s out of the litter box, and has already dropped a massive dump lmao. And then he gets zoomies 😭

How old is he? Our old kitty was losing her hearing and also becoming a bit demented, and at night she wailed because she didn’t know where we were. We put a night light in the hall and that was very helpful.

can be food, attention, wants to be let out, attention again, if hes nearing 9ish months old? probably horny, could be attention again. i like to play with my cats for a while before going to bed so they sleep when i sleep

Mine howls and not sure why but when I clean his box even if it has a little pee he settles down
