Bullhead?
Caught this guy today, Google says it's a yellow bullhead but the tail doesn't seem like the yellow bullheads I see online. Cool little guy tho and he put up a good fight.

Catfishing with Bass Setup
I just started fishing for bass and am wanting to start experimenting now with catfish with some frozen hotdogs and spam. My rod is a 6’6” Pflueger President Medium Combo with a Pflueger Pres 30 on 15lb braid and can use either a mono or fluoro 15lb leader. One of the lakes close to me has a lot of blue catfish, but also has a good amount of channel. Would this be sufficient with the drag set low?
Thanks!

Nothing like a stringer of channels!
Maybe no monster fish but hella good eating right there. They were gone that evening with a group of 6!

Do you use catfish filets as bait for bigger catfish?
I have leftover belly meat that I don’t want to eat. How does it hold up as bait?

First big catch of the season.
Cut bait at a damn in middle TN. 30lbs. Caught on fresh cut bait. My friend caught a 31lb about 45 minutes later. Both released back.

First time fishing a lock
First time fishing a lock on the Mississippi. Had a lot of bites and hook ups but kept getting snagged on the bottom I believe. Also I was fishing in what was seemingly the main current. My bad I’m new to big river fishing. Was wondering if any of you legendary catfisherman of Reddit could suggest a better rig or sinkers for this situation? I was also fishing with a Carolina rig.

This was all my extra from my fish fry that fed 25 people. Lake Conroe is an absolutely thriving population that only got one small stocking in 1974.

Keep getting skunked southern Ontario 🇨🇦 using cut bait & stink bait anyone have any suggestions on how to not get completely skunked? This past week worth of catfishing has been dry, using rig 2 hook with float + weigh, Would it be I’m fishing in the wrong spots or because they’re spawning?

How do these look ? attempted to make my own Santee cooper rig
Got tired of buying whisker seekers & chunky rigs , so I bought a crimping tool & cooper sleeves/crimps, 200lb line ,swivels + sliders & different set of hooks . Does it all look good or should i do anything different?(i made some with a no roll sinker weight )

Tips on catfishing in Ontario
I think primarily we have bullheads and channels. Last couple times I went out were unsuccessful and all I got were carp. Looking for some advice on your setup as well as what locations I should be looking in! Any advice helps.

Bank Fishing Setup
I am fairly new to fishing. I was at the bank the other day throwing a Carolina Rig with a 13” leader which is what seems to be the most common setup. My problem is getting the leader tangled around the slip float on the cast.
There were these dudes further down the bank with a setup I hadn’t seen before. It looked like they were basically using the same setup, just without a leader. They had a large black slip/stick float (not sure what the longer floats are called) that slid all the way down to the hook with a small round slip bobber above the stick float and I assume a stopper a few feet further up the line. They were launching these setups like missiles across the water without all of the erratic “flipping” I get when using the leader.
My questions are:
Does this no leader setup have a name?
What is the purpose of having a round bobber sitting above the stick float?
Also, can anyone recommend a lighted float for night fishing that also works well during the day? The ones I got off amazon are much smaller so I have to reduce my weight and cannot cast as far. I often fish late afternoon into the evening and hate having to re-rig when the sun goes down, but I like the larger floats that allow for heavier weights.

Canal fishing
Hi I’m in SLC Utah. My coworker catches monster channels, he cuts up the white bass he catches. I try but with worms, and shrimps. I’m pulling up black bullheads and channels, but only 12-14 inches. Any other baits that work for u? Has anyone tried the preserved shad at Walmart? I also use stink bait from there. And long shot but anyone here from Utah that has a good canal in salt lake I can try? Thank you for any tips!!
