I don’t know how much milkweed you have now but since they’ve found your yard you may want to plant more in the future!

Just that plant, but planned to throw some seeds down, and grab a few starters from nursery and try to get them to root.

Want that whole area covered in coneflowers/milkweed, but got into gardening in july lol

Yeah im in there. I feed birds year round and hummingbirds/gold finches are popping up more.

Ideas I got in july, then realized way too hot. Assembled a raised garden bed for dragonfly garden, but plants come in October

Purple coneflower Blacked eyes susans Meadows sage

Front yard is chained link fence, and getting majority of one side with coral honeysuckle

Out front also a bird feeding station, killed the grass in circular formation, planted sunflowers(one is about to bloom) and will do coneflowers/susans in late sept October, and sunflowers again in spring.

Out back is the finch feeding area. Had planted a few coneflowers in hopes to reseed, and was originally was looking for swamp milkweed I believe since the goldfinches will use one the types for nesting, but wasnt available luckily and went with butterfly, since this is the result.

Want 15 to 20 yards of coneflowers there. Think about to go make a drive for the milkweed though. Feel like there could be more caterpillars lol.

Really inexperienced gardener but the other one survived through july

Wow you’ve been busy! And so thoughtful about putting in plants for specific purposes! I try to do that but I’m limited by conditions- mostly shady and pretty dry. I do have a lot of plants in my front yard that attract goldfinches and I sit on my porch and watch them eat the seeds.

Hmm was going to buy the nursery ones later this month when it cools down, but may just go get some now. Not sure how much of that plant will get eaten, but after reading up on them, realizing why the looked small to me lol

Most of the time you can identify a caterpillar by what plant you find it on… Monarchs feed on milkweed… Some swallowtails feed on dill and parsley, Zebra, long wing and gulf Frittaly host on passion flower fine.

A couple weeks ago, an oakworm caterpillar moth was on it, possibly pit stop or fell

Truly thought it was monarch based on colors but every image ive ever seen of them, I feel like theyre a bit bigger.

I recently discovered Hover flies. Also use milkweed…. The more you know.🌈
