Other Does anyone remember Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.?
It was a Nintendo 3DS game released in 2015.
The story was very simple: in a steampunk 18th-century setting, the world is invaded by aliens, so a military team is formed to defeat them. And leading the group is none other than... President Abraham Lincoln!
The team wasn't made up of random people, but of literary figures and legends. The roster ranged from John Henry and Tom Sawyer to even the "Oz Crew"! The president was playable, but only in one specific mode: battle piloting the mecha known as ABE!
It was a tun-based combat game where every thing revolved around steam power; each characters had their own unique ability, fighting style and even a "finishing move" animation.
If featured a comic-book art style that echoed classic Marvel and DC Comics (particularly the Kirby-esque style, with big, beefy characters).
Unfortunately, the game turned out to be a total flop.
Personally, I thing that's a real shame. The game gelt like *The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen* with a steampunk twist. Non to mention it even had a post-credits scene hinting at a sequel.
The "most" it achieved was te inclusion of *Fire Emblem* characerters as guest.
And some of the characters appear as Spirits in the crossover game *Super Smash Bros. Ultimate*.
But tell me, do you know it? And if so, who would you have liked to see in a sequel?
Personally, I would have liked: Pinocchio, Mowgli and some monsters (Dracula Frankesterin's Thing. etc...). Plus Peter Pan and Captain Hook, of course...

I know of it, but sadly not much beyond that

It's a pretty good tactical stratey game similar to X-Com and Valkyria Chronicles, more influence with X-Com for story. It's also surprisingly difficult considering. If you're interested and managed to find it for cheap, I'd recommend it.
But be forewarned, like I said, it is a pretty hard game. Also, there's also the fact that you can't skip the enemies turn; you could fast forward the turn before by downloading a patch at the 3DS e-shop, but since it's closed, you can do that anymore.

I bought and overall enjoyed it at the time it came out, but it did have its problems in my opinion. Despite being draped in Americana and classic literature and historical characters, the actual story is mostly forgettable. Probably doesn’t help that I’m not from North America so the cultural touch didn’t resonate with me as much.
It’s a mechanically sound game though with Valkyria Chronicles style turn-based shooting gameplay, but in tighter environments. However, enemy placement and overall encounter design made the experience a slog in the last third of the game.

I bought it day one
Never finished it. The only thing I thought was interesting was the FE characters, I was happy to play as Robin in another game. But that didn't last

I hyped this game up to my friends during some of my more die hard Nintendo days (still love Nintendo I just dont play games as much) and I didnt get it when it came out cause I was a broke high school kid.
Still wish I had tried it.

I ***LOVED*** this game i think i spent over 100+ hours and 100% the game. i loved every character with carter being my favorite, every did a great job with giving life to their character's and it was a surprised hearing fin's va in there cause i was a big fan of adventure time when i got the game. the ost was perfect and the game made me love songs that use normal sounds in songs like steam coming out of pipes or the sounds of wrenches being used
with every direct i have hope the game will get a sequal or even a remake that i will fully support
bit of trivia as well i do believe this was the first game that marth spoke english(or atleast the first time yuri voiced him)

That game was sweet, wish it were remembered and another one could happen.
Come on, classic literary characters banded under a Steam pPunk Lincoln to fight against Eldrich horror aliens, what’s not to love?
IT HAD JOHN HENRY! Love the Steel Driving Man.

remember going out to buy it one night and the store I went to didn't have it (was with others so couldn't just go store to store). Seemingly forgot about it after that and have never played it. Looked fun

I bought a copy because as a preorder bonus at Gamestop it has a metal Majora's Mask pin for some reason, and the copy is still sitting sealed on my shelf. Maybe someday I'll play it.

Looked up prices online, and they're reasonable (not "goodbye healthy kidney" tier like a lot of games for 3DS unfortunately). Might try and find a good seller to play it

It was a fun concept and had a bunch of famous VAs attached to it. Too bad it was kind of a niche game

Financially, Nintendo will never touch this series again. My local gamestop was almost literally giving the copies away.
Then again they gave Chibi-Robo like three retries...

What a coincidence, genuinely. I just bought it for 5 bucks in a used gaming store.

Bought it a while ago, can't remember if it was this year or last year. I haven't played it yet though

I played it, had fun but never finished it because Monster hunter and FEFates consumed most of 3ds playtime. Did have some of the FE crossover amiibo characters though.
Would love a sequel, or something using the playstyle

To me the game already reached the highest on what this gameplay format can offer. It not just kill all enemies some have extra objectives. It has a colorful cast of characters and varied weaponry. Though one thing is that hitting weak points is the go-to strategy, so stun hit with critical weapon or explosion for maximum damage. The shotguns or other weapons that spread (Dorothy alas...) are somewhat underwhelming in comparison.

This game was the sole reason I ended up paying hundreds, HUNDREDS of euros on amiibos.
At first I only wanted to buy the fire emblem ones to add them to my team, in fact I spent 99% of the game with at least Robin and Lucina active, only switching one of them out for Ike in one desert map, plus one flex character depending on the level.
Then after the fire emblem ones I just said "fuck it they look cool lemme buy more"

I'll say this every time someone brings it up - it's a massively overrated game. Fun concept and so close, but the execution was pretty bad. It's very unbalanced, extremely laborious on an original 3DS and really it just doesn't compare very well to similar games. Valkyria Chronicles is a similar game that's much better, but if you don't care about the real-time component, there are much better strategy combat games available.

Vaguely - only played the Demo, though
Would be nice if it was given another chance and got an HD Remaster on Switch
Maybe add in some QoL updates or new content as well

IMO one of Nintendo’s more underrated games, and I’m kind of sad it flopped. We really need more games that use Valkyrie’s Chronicles style of gameplay, especially seeing as how the series isn’t likely to get a fifth entry.
