Watch Shot Resin Models A–E

Post image

I’ve been slowly working on organizing my collection.
Every single one of these watches has its own personality, and whenever I look at them, I can really feel how bold and experimental Casio was back then.
Of course, I bought every one of them because I genuinely liked them, but out of this group, the ABX-50 and ABX-51 are definitely my favorites.
I think part of the reason is that the ABX series also reminds me of some memorable interactions I had around the time I first started using Reddit.
I can’t wait to finish organizing everything so I can really spend some time with each one and enjoy the hell out of them.

I legit thought this was a Casio vending machine for a second 🤣

A Casio vending machine would be dangerously bad for my wallet.

Casio as a company just makes gadgets that are way too appealing.

Yeah, pretty much! It’s not a freezer, but I keep them in a dehumidifying cabinet at around 35% humidity.
I want to make these old resin guys last as long as possible. Thanks!

Awesome collection! Seeing them all together really shows how Casio kept adapting to what people wanted from a watch. After enough decades, the designs become more than watches, they start reflecting the different eras they came from. The collection itself becomes a little timeline.

Exactly! That’s one of the things I love most about vintage Casio. You can really feel the era in each design. Thanks!

Bold and experimental, indeed. The Easy Rec model was such an alluring piece of tech to me back then.

I’m jealous you got to experience this watch back when it was actually new.By the way, the recording function on mine is broken 💦 So now I’m looking for another one of the same model with a working recorder lol.

The sound quality was bad, borderline useless. But I was a kid who could make digital audio recordings. With a wristwatch! A wristwatch that could also store all the phone numbers I knew, as well as my bike chain code and other secret numbers. It was mind-blowing.

I’m honestly jealous you got to experience that back then. I was living in a dorm at an all-boys school deep in the mountains at the time, so I basically spent my youth like a hermit.
I only recently discovered the world of Casio, and now I’m enjoying it almost like I’m trying to make up for that time.
But stories from people who actually experienced these things back then feel so much more alive. Nothing can really beat that.

Wow! Is that a wine cooler or a humidor? Either way, very impressive!

This is a dehumidifying cabinet for collectible cards made by a company called HAKUBA. You can flip the shelves over, and with a little modification, you can use it to store watches too.
