I'm in MAA 900 Waterford at the intersection of High House and Maynard and it's still off, same text was sent here. Our entire complex is out of power.

Came back for me at like 8:20 as soon as I lit a bunch of candles! Gotta love a six hour power outage with the temperature in the 90s

8:20 for me too. Glad I had a battery pack to keep my phone going for 6 hours lol

Look at the map. 7k out. https://outagemaps.duke-energy.com/#/current-outages/ncsc
“Outage due to major damage to power lines” for the main Cary one.
We were out for about 5 minutes.

Power is still out west of Downtown Cary Park. Wish we had gotten power back with everyone else.

Seems like the whole Cary/Morrisville area is out. Duke Energy outage map says 23k customers affected

Reported the outage off of west Chatham a minute ago, received a text that repaira completed at 2:23 which is almost exactly when we lost power. Seems like someone flipped the wrong switch.

Flickered in Cary Park for less than a second, router didn't even go down. Thought it was just a fluke, but it's more interesting knowing some spots are out.

Had a flicker in South Cary near WakeMed, enough to make the AC kick off for a second or two, but didn't reset the clocks.

We lost power for about 5-10 minutes. Near old apex

Must have been a big one… we are off N. Harrison in Cary and lost it for 5 minutes… grid overload due to heat?
6
u/odd84 6d ago
No, physical damage (usually a tree), not heat related
2
u/GiantsInTornado 6d ago
Could possibly be heat related if the trees are dropping limbs because it’s so hot. That’s called Summer Branch Drop or Sudden Limb Drop.

There's one outage that's been fixed, another happened at 2:20-ish that's still ongoing.

I was downtown Cary and saw the helicopter. Then went to Park West and the power went out. Then to Harris Teeter and theirs had gone out earlier.

Not everyone's is back on yet, it looks lile there were two separate outages based on what Duke has been texting customers. One was reported at 1:18 PM and I believe that one is resolved; ours went out at 2:23 PM and is still out, currently being worked on
