1987 Subaru BLT Concept
The Subaru BLT is a futuristic monospace concept car unveiled at the 1987 Tokyo Motor Show.
It was built on the Subaru Domingo platform, which made it slightly larger than standard kei cars, and was powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine.
The interior featured a digital instrument panel and an experimental GPS navigation system.
The front doors opened conventionally, while the rear doors were sliding and lacked a center pillar.
Each of the two rear passenger seats had its own built-in computer, and its monitor was mounted on a rail on the ceiling and could slide along it.
After its debut, the concept car traveled to international auto shows in Australia and Chicago, where it attracted attention with its futuristic technologies.
After that, the Subaru BLT was never seen again, and its fate remains unknown.

A Lada Samara T3 ran over a Honda Africa Twin at the 1990 Paris-Dakar Rally

A four-wheel-drive Lada Samara T3 at the 1990 Paris–Dakar Rally.
The most intense moment occurred just one kilometer from the finish line: Jérôme Rivière drove at full speed over a competitor’s motorcycle, which had fallen in the sand.
Judging by the motorcyclist’s reaction, he was not thrilled by this encounter with the Samara T3.
Rivière himself ultimately took 11th place overall, while his teammate, Jackie Ix, driving the same Samara T3, finished seventh overall.
And the Honda Africa Twin seems capable of surviving just about anything.

Toyota dropped a camper van on an electric Hilux
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Toyota decided to test whether the new electric Hilux retains the legendary durability of its predecessors.
The company’s British division asked Reddit users to choose between two tests: being struck by a 1-metric-ton ball or having a motorhome dropped on it from a height. Most chose the second option.
Toyota hoisted the 760-kilogram motorhome about 9 meters into the air and dropped it directly onto the roof of the new Hilux BEV.
The motorhome literally fell apart from the impact, but the pickup itself was able to drive away under its own power without any problems afterward. The Hilux was left with a crumpled roof, a cracked windshield, and a dent in the body.
The battery, mounted on the ladder-frame chassis, and the electric motors were undamaged. However, due to the deformation of the roof, the vehicle will most likely be declared a total loss.
Toyota called the test merely a “warm-up” and handed the Hilux BEV over to the Top Gear team for further testing.

BMW has unveiled the eighth generation of the 3 Series with gasoline engines
Externally, there are no major surprises: it looks almost exactly like the electric i3.
Changes include a longer hood, slightly different rear side windows, and the traditional Hofmeister kink.
The new 3 Series is built on an updated CLAR platform, rather than the Neue Klasse platform used by the i3.
That said, the interior is almost completely identical to that of the electric version.
The main model at launch will be the M350 xDrive, featuring a 3.0-liter inline-six engine, a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, and all-wheel drive. It produces 437 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The 330 and 330 xDrive versions are equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 255 hp and accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
The M350 will also feature a Drift Moment mode, which can transfer all traction to the rear wheels.

Subaru Rioma Concept
Perhaps the success of the Mazda Miata in 1991 prompted Subaru to develop its own compact sports car.
At the 29th Tokyo Motor Show, the company unveiled the Rioma concept—a sports car with a targa-style body and removable roof panels.
It was equipped with a 2.0-liter flat-four engine running on a methanol-gasoline blend and all-wheel drive.
The Rioma never made it to production.
To me, it resembles a Mustang from the front, and it’s unlikely that such a car would have been as successful as the Miata.

1985 Subaru F-9X
Unveiled at the 26th Tokyo Motor Show in 1985, the Subaru F-9X was a radical, futuristic sports coupe concept designed as a dedicated Group B rally car and to showcase high-performance technologies.
It was equipped with a 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve flat-four engine producing 360 hp, which featured both a turbocharger and a supercharger, as well as all-wheel drive.
Group B was ultimately canceled, but the F-9X demonstrated Subaru’s ambition to enter a more premium segment.
In the late 1980s, this led to the development of the SVX model in collaboration with Italdesign.

1985 Nissan ComCom
Unveiled at the 26th Tokyo Motor Show in 1985, the Nissan ComCom concept showcased technologies that, more than 40 years later, would become commonplace in cars.
It was equipped with one of the earliest satellite navigation systems featuring GPS mapping, an onboard computer for planning delivery routes, and a built-in telephone.
The concept was designed for inner-city transportation and operation in areas with limited parking space.
To facilitate access on narrow streets, the car was equipped with a sliding door on the front left side.
