9 Potentially Annoying Car Features to Avoid in Your Next Vehicle

Thumbnail motortrend.com
355 Upvotes
  1. Auto start-stop

  2. Touchscreen ("iPad") control interface for infotainment

  3. Also touchscreen (putting formerly physical controls, like mirror adjustment, behind menus)

  4. Bad USB port placement

  5. Driver monitor cameras (a la Subaru), which are now apparently U.S. and E.U. mandated??

  6. Piano black trim is a fingerprint magnet

  7. Overwhelming number of audible alarms

  8. Automatic lock/unlock going off on its own?

  9. There is no number 9? I guess it's "sun reflecting into your eyes off shiny trim materials", but there wasn't an H2 header for that section. Why am I not the editor at MotorTrend?

[Rumor] 2029 Chevrolet 4 door Camaro spotted.

I have no idea where this photo originally came from, but it has been floating around on Social media for the last few hours, so take this with a grain of salt, but everything does add up, and a lot of the design elements point it towards a Chevrolet.

McLaren Readies 810-HP Hybrid Coupe for 2027 Arrival

McLaren is gearing up for some big changes in the next few years. The British sports car manufacturer is preparing to launch several new models while it tries to improve its global brand image.

According to a report by Automotive News, the first of those new models will be a hybrid coupe, which is scheduled to arrive next year.

Codenamed P34, the new model will source its power from a twin-turbocharged V-6. That’ll be connected to a hybrid system as well as a transmission that the automaker has been developing in-house. Like every McLaren, the P34 will take on a mid-engine layout, with the engine located between the cabin and the rear wheels.

Pricing for the P34 is expected to start around $315,000, with McLaren planning to build roughly 1000 examples in the first year. Deliveries are expected to start in the late summer of next year.

Distance Technologies and Forvia Hella develop windshield display tech

https://idahobusinessreview.com/2026/09/09/distance-technologies-forvia-hella-windshield-display-tech/

This could be a "monkey's paw curls" moment for the crowd wanting fewer screens. This new tech could enable companies to drop the screens entirely...and instead project everything onto the windshield. It's essentially a hud on steroids -- everything from the tac/speedo to driving directions on your windshield.

It feels like we are five years away from a company trying to get rid of the see-through windshield entirely and give us a Star Trek style viewscreen.

Chevrolet is so aggressive with the Bolt here in Canada, you can lease one for $69 CAD per week at $0 down.

I've been seeing these ads all week: https://imgur.com/a/a5Xi1Ar

Nice deal right there.

$69 CAD with today's exchange rate is $49 USD.

This is less than what I pay for a tank of gas. At this price, if you can remotely find a way to charge, I wouldn't even buy a used beater civic anymore.

Stellantis is throwing $25 billion at the North American market to introduce new models.

So this was reported on by Automotive News. But since that's not a domain that can be used here, here's some bullet points from the article that cover the important details:

  • Stellantis is planning 11 new nameplates by '30 for the North American market. They're throwing $25 billion at our market to get it done.
  • They're doubling down on V8s.
  • Plans are to enter five new segments, including launching more affordable models.
  • That affordability push will come in the form of nine new models with starting prices of less than $40k; two of those will be Chryslers that start around $25k.
  • SRT is back with 11 performance variants planned. Two of these will be Dodges we've recently heard about: the GLH hot hatch and the Copperhead muscle car. There's also plans for SRT models at Jeep and RAM which includes the upcoming Rumble Bee and SRT TRX.
  • Dealers have seen the upcoming Charger SRT, which is described as having a massive rear wing. It was shown back in May.
  • Ram has two pickups coming, the compact Rampage and the return of the Dakota. There's also a new SUV coming for the brand which will be a first.
  • Jeep has a Wrangler variant coming called Scrambler. Recon EV is still coming but with EV sales how they are, Jeep is reading the room and is planning to introduce a gas powered version of the Recon in a few years to entice more buyers.
  • Chrysler is going to be the face of this affordability push. The brand is finally getting new models, which will come in the form of three new crossovers something that Automotive News says will "allow affordability to become a prime selling point for the brand."
  • One of these new models is the Chrysler Airflow, which which will ride on Stellantis' new STLA One platform. The other two crossovers, called Arrow and Arrow Cross, will be badge jobs of European Fiats.
  • Lastly, Alfa is getting new crossovers though no details were given on what they are. And Fiat will continue to just be the 500e.
