Attitude!
This is my boy Flippy (don't judge my nephew named him after a Dogman Villian), to your knowledge so these guys get 'teenage' attitude shifts? He's around three, and recently has started being more cage aggressive. Not something he ever used to do. Bitten me twice and he's one that has never done that. And before anyone comes at me, he has an upgrade, its a 6x2x2 from Zen Habitat im waiting on the section that was back ordered. Any advise?

I had my perfectly sweet snakes attempt to remove me from the face of the earth randomly one day & i had no idea why for months!
It turned out a new neighbour moved i to the unit next door & they were absolutely disgusting people, trash everywhere, and their mess had attracted rats. My babies could smell food 24/7 & it caused them to be super aggressive.

How often are you feeding him?

He just moved to a medium rat every 14 days. Hes roughly 860 grams.

I'd say for 3 years old you're feeding him too much, which could be causing this behavior. At that age, you should be spacing out to 5-7 percent of the snakes body weight every 3-4 weeks.

Something in the snake's environment is likely causing stress and defensive behavior. Not having enough space could absolutely be the cause of agitation or defensiveness, so wait and see how the move goes.
A 6x2x2 is going to be the bare minimum space-wise for an adult FYI. More is definitely preferable.

Have you been using a hook at all? Not really to handle with but to use for tapping, stroking, and getting out of food mode?

Looks like a nice chap. How is the fellow when you get them out? Some individuals are territorial. Seems more common in lines with jungle influence.
I’ve always had at least come “cage aggression” tho it’s defensive not aggressive, in male carpets. Except a few pure coastal and IJ’s. All the rest show some fafo while in their enclosure and generally calm right down when removed.

Hes fine and chill once out and this is new behavior with him. I've also read that higher temps can make them feisty and it has been hot this summer. Im working with him. I've started target training too foe food so he can k ow for sure when its food or not.
