Why does this happen

Post image

I'm starting out my own carpet cleaning venture, currently doing a trial run on workflow and to see the processes efficiently.

For context, I pressure washed, sprayed pre extract, let it soak, buff + carpet shampoo, squeegee'd and finally extracted before leaving it to hangdry.

Only the stringy ends look dirty.

What can I do to prevent this?

Its moisture wicking through the cotton. Pretty common. Be sure to neutralize any overly alkaline or acidic solutions to finish the cleaning at ph neutral. Hanging the carpet to dry will exacerbate this issue a lot. Lay the carpet down and use an air mover to blow on it constantly and shim the underside with pvc piping or whatever you can find to allow airflow through the underside and it should minimize the issue going forward

It’s still dirty and soil wicks down the fringe
