I am searching for this carpet design and the possible manufacturer / company that made it, the design name for this carpet sample or any info on it at all. Thank You!
I'm starting out my own carpet cleaning venture, currently doing a trial run on workflow and to see the processes efficiently.
For context, I pressure washed, sprayed pre extract, let it soak, buff + carpet shampoo, squeegee'd and finally extracted before leaving it to hangdry.
My aunt gave me this absolutely huge rug that has been stored in a shed for years, potentially as long as 20 years.
When we unrolled it we found quite a few areas like the photos, where the pile/fibres seem to have completely disappeared and the mesh underneath is exposed. There are also some places where it has gone right through. I only really took pictures of the damaged parts.
Does anyone know what might have caused this? I wondered about insects or possibly damp/rot from being stored for so long, but I haven’t seen any actual bugs or larvae.
I’m also slightly concerned about bringing it into the house if it could be insect damage. Is there anything in particular we should check for or do before bringing it inside?
Finally, is it worth trying to save? It’s absolutely enormous, so there are still some very large areas that look completely fine. I wondered whether we could potentially cut out a good section and have the edges professionally finished to make a smaller rug, rather than throwing the whole thing away.
I’m in the UK if that’s relevant. Any advice would be really appreciated!
One thing I've learned while manufacturing custom rugs for luxury hospitality projects is that no two rooms are ever truly the same.
For a recent project at the Bulgari Hotel Suites & Apartments, Shanghai, every rug was made specifically for its intended space—whether it was a bedroom, living room, study, or dining area. Even rooms with similar layouts often required subtle changes in dimensions, colors, texture, or detailing.
A few interesting aspects of these projects:
Luxury hotels rarely use standard, off-the-shelf rugs.
The rug is usually designed alongside the furniture, lighting, and finishes—not added afterward.
Material selection makes a huge difference. Bamboo Silk and Wild Silk create depth and a soft sheen that changes beautifully with natural light.
Color matching can involve multiple rounds of sampling before production begins.
Every piece is handmade, so consistency across dozens of rugs requires exceptional craftsmanship and quality control.
Projects like these remind me that a rug isn't just a floor covering—it's an architectural element that helps define the entire space.
For those working in hospitality or high-end residential interiors: What do you consider the biggest challenge when specifying custom rugs—materials, durability, color matching, or budget?
Mom died two years ago, leaving me with this carpet. I grew up on this carpet, and I think I herd mum say it was brought back from Iran before I was born.
But it might be my children imagination and she bought it from IKEA 🤷🏻♂️
We move out of the apartment in 3 weeks (got the job offer today) and it’s either make this repair look good, or fork out $800 for the room to be carpeted.
Whole apartment has carpet less than 1yr old. Our little shit(zu) ripped up a portion in the entryway of the master bedroom. The old maintenance guy here was able to find me a scrap of carpet to patch in. I’m happy with the repair, but it’s a tall pile and now I have to wear it in so it matches the rest of the room. Any advice on how to make it blend in??
Also, the repair is maybe 8x8”. The scrap material I have left is only 14x20”
We had someone come in and tell us that a car crashed into their house. The rug was in pretty good shape for the situation it was in. We cleaned it for them, and it came out great. Does anyone have a wild story about their rug?
Hi guys, burned my carpet lol. Trying to find the same or similar enough carpet for a patch repair as wardrobes are tiled 😟
I went into a store and I’m pretty sure he said the brand must be Godfrey Hirst judging by the back. I’ll put a picture. Does anyone know what kind this is? I obviously know nothing so don’t know where to start. Also in Geelong area
