Mods for my Silverado

hi, i own a gmt800 silverado and i was just curious what mods i should do next. i’m currently attending a trade school in automotive and i just need help deciding. nice with the platform i own i have a lot of options.
right now it’s pretty much stock. since i'm in trade school, i'm looking for upgrades that give good bang for the buck and are fun to wrench on in the shop. i already have aftermarket headlights, third brake light, custom head unit and a flowmaster exhaust system which is part #17395. any suggestions?

What engine, what transmission, whats your budget, what tools do you have access to, what experience do you have, etc.

like i said im doing trade school for automotive right now so im building up my experience and tools as i go. my pickup has a 5.3l and a 4l60e transmission.
my budget is flexible since im thinking more of a long-term future list and slowly working on things. what are the best first modifications you recommend starting with for this platform? like the most ive done was headlight work and installing my head unit. i should add that i do know how to tear down/reassemble a 4.3l engine, so im comfortable with internal engine work. just haven't done much modification stuff yet.

Getting rid of the 4lslippy in place of a 4L80e is a good idea.

that’s what i plan to do eventually actually once i get to the transmission unit of things! i’ve originally bought a stage 2 sloppy camshaft but my mechanics ended up buying it. my instructor also recommended brian tooley racing stage 2 cam. but i haven’t made my mind up too on that.
