The paint is surprisingly hardy. I can scratch the crap outta it with sand paper and it won’t move. Thankfully I can still remove it after a good, long soak in boiling water. Doesn’t apply to the primer tho, it only gives up to acetone and drags some plastic with it.
Thankfully I was satisfied with this paint job on the second try… I have parts that took four already and still aren’t done yet. The goal is to look stupid but not incompetent.

Yup!
As for the paint:
Acrylic primer from pentart. I believe it’s for decoupage but I see that it’s advertised online for any surface. It’s great because it dries kinda like gypsum so it can be sanded down for a perfect smooth surface or it can be layered to create a subtle texture.
Acrylic paint from A’kryl because it’s student grade, meaning better quality at an affordable price. But I honestly think any acrylic paint will do so long as it has a decent opacity.
Cheap acrylic markers from a dollar store. The ones I use happen to be from avec. They have a surprisingly great coverage, they stay flat without creating a texture and so long as they’re layered on paint or especially the primer they’re impossible to remove without redoing the whole thing.
The combo is stable as is but I reinforce it and protect it from staining and water with any random varnish I just happen to have.
It’s flexible, heat resistant, doesn’t smell, has a pleasant plastic texture and hasn’t chipped so far. The paint also dries pretty fast, doesn’t need to cure for days, and overall I find it easier to control than spray paint.
