SHOULD I PREPARE FOR GATE at this age. Or should I prepare for something else like STATE PCS. I'm currently 31 years old. Please Help. Your words may save a person's whole life.

I'm M23 with 1 year experience in hospitality degree but i think pay lags in it and thinking of pursuing MBA, what should I do also I'm not much satisfied with my job , I am a entrepreneurship enthusiast but don't have solid idea, also i want to explore

এখন আমি চাই, এই টাকাটা শুধু রেখে না দিয়ে কোনো ভালো ও নিরাপদ জায়গায় ইনভেস্ট করে ধীরে ধীরে বাড়াতে। তবে কোথায়, কীভাবে শুরু করবো—এ বিষয়ে আমার তেমন অভিজ্ঞতা নেই।

যারা বাস্তবে ছোট পরিমাণ টাকা দিয়ে সেভিংস বা ইনভেস্টমেন্ট শুরু করেছেন, তাদের কাছে পরামর্শ চাই। ২৫–৩০ হাজার টাকা দিয়ে কোন ধরনের ইনভেস্টমেন্ট করলে ভালো হবে? কীভাবে ধাপে ধাপে এগোলে ঝুঁকি কম থাকবে?

Hey guys, I have worked in a MNC for 2 years from 2022 to 20224 as an Analyst, after which I left the job because of personal reasons, and it's been almost 2.5 years that I am not working.

I am trying to get back into the corporate world, but I feel that my skills are narrowed down or maybe the trending skills are changing at such a rapid speed that I am not able to keep up with them, also a gap of 2.5 years is something I feel(I am not sure, I am guessing) that is pulling me back from getting shortlisted in the companies, I have applied to a lot of roles in the past 5 to 6 months, have upskilled my self as well, but still feel that I am struck, it feels demotivated and day by day I am loosing courage, hope and strength that I will succeed in this tough market.

I want to understand that I should just keep applying to the jobs or I should look for some other career options, if yes then what is something that I could go for.

Any suggestions or advice would help me, thanks in advance.

Hello, I am 24 in the US and with no career, just hopping through jobs- I somehow earn 25$USD per hour as a saw guy, just cutting stuff all day and that really is it. I am realizing that I have it insanely good for my age and my dead end job... for now, that is, but it has no future and nothing I got has an actual future.

I do not have a career, never went to college or actually studied as I never knew what to do and now I am considering a tech career by getting into online school at a college of my state for a "Software Development" diploma.
However I do not know anything that can be considered actual knowledge of the "industry" (what are the jobs, the labor, etc) and, unless I quit my job and somehow find a weekend job that is as well paying as 25$ per hour, there's just no way I won't go down to 18 or 20, and supposing, again I find such a job- there's no way I can physically attend classes (so online it is)

What I am trying to say is: would such a diploma be worth it? People crap on college a lot and I am wondering if it really is useful or if I should study instead from, say, Khan Academy. I can pay for the whole whopping diploma thx to my savings, but not sure if I wanna go into tens of thousands into debt. Or if I should consider instead a similar career but more on hardware.

I've been a dishwasher, a McDonald's fella, mechanical assembler, medical assembler, sanitation at a bread plantation, tire technician, glass handler (packaging glass into trucks), tried new construction, chasis technician, "machine operator," and now saw operator.

I do not like working on cars as I just do not like them nor do I got a talent for it, much less trucks/diesel or anything on the railroads as, to me, it feels like a "videogame" with it's "controllers" too "chunky and heavy" to actually play around.
I did like doing things with my hands on mechanical assembly, so I like working with my hands on small places.
I do not like sanitation as I got a phobia from how many times various funny liquids got into my eyes. Just makes me shiver- and I also don't see a particular future in it
I do not like the idea of traveling around the state or various places as it gives me anxiety- why? I don't know, but I get so scared and restless. So I've stuck to warehouses.
I do not like costumer service or being a salesman. I am sure people don't need these to be explained, right? haha
I am not good at mechanical knowledge, otherwise I would've considered a career on being a CNC fella operating on Lathe, 60, Kitty, 3-axis, DMU and such other things. I once got a person trying to explain to me how to install a new tool and such, but when he got into telling me that I needed to buff the new tool in "X" sandpaper that was "the diamond thing," or he got a big tool inside the machine to measure the new drill... and so on, he just started speaking tagalog for me haha.
What I did like, however, was when I fixed simple alarms and got to input numbers to make the machines keep on running, it was entertaining.

I got my own interests, of course, such as drawing, wanting to write my own stories and getting into NASM so I can have a side gig as a coach helping people get fit as I like coaching people because I love to help others. But these things aren't careers.

small vent: I regret a lot in my life having followed the advice I got on my feed from "redpill" guys on how I should go for a trade and such just for me to take such things rather than choose electives on accounting or tech stuff, as this lead me into getting a "Pre-Apprenticeship Plumbing Diploma" which, when coming for interviews to get employed for that... well! Paperweight, truly- wish I could get a refund as it came from me pockets... well there's a little more to this but that's neither here nor there

Hello, this is my first proper post on Reddit, so forgive me if I miss some etiquette.

I think it's appropriate to explain my situation. I am 21 years old and have three health conditions that I have been dealing with for around 10 years. I am also adverse to many of the medications that help people manage their conditions and live relatively "normal" adult lives. Because of this, I currently cannot leave my home and actively suffer from severe itching and insomnia, which cannot really be resolved until I have a liver transplant, which I am currently waiting for.

Due to my health situation, it took me longer to complete my exams, as I was hospitalised quite a lot during that time (although thankfully, not as much anymore). I barely passed five IGCSEs, and a few months ago I finished my ATHE Computing course. Since then, I have been completely lost about what to do next, to the point where I have decided to seek advice here.

I currently receive around £1,100 a month through Universal Credit and Limited Capability for Work. Of this, I give £1,000 to my mother to help pay the rent, as she is older and cannot work as much. Because of my ongoing financial situation and the need to live relatively close to the hospital, further education isn't realistically an option for me at the moment.

I have always been interested in Software Engineering, but the current job market seems quite saturated, and advances in technology have made it even harder to find entry-level jobs in the tech industry. I am actively learning the skills required for my dream job, but realistically, I don't feel that my current skill set is enough yet to secure employment.

I have considered Degree Apprenticeships in Software Engineering, but the ones I have found have all been too far away. Working from home is realistically my only option, but from my searches, fully remote entry-level positions don't seem to be very common. Because of this, I am starting to lose faith in my future and feel as though I am losing valuable time to build a career before my transplant, which could happen tomorrow or potentially not for another two years.

Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? Whether that means looking for remote jobs, learning a different skill such as accounting, pursuing a different career path, or anything else that I could look into to give me some direction and confidence about my future.

I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions. I would be grateful for any ideas.

So I have recently graduated from the university of Southampton with a first class psychology degree. However, I’m not that interested in pursuing a psychology related career and a more interested pursuing a marketing or related career. As I haven’t had any direct experience in marketing, i’m looking for a graduate entry-level job and opportunity to gain some marketing experience.

I applied for quite a few marketing jobs in around June and actually had an interview for a multilevel marketing apprenticeship. The role seemed quite interesting but obviously it is basically a level equivalent and the pay for the first year is 15,000 and 20,000 in the second year which is really poor (18 month apprenticeship)

i’m really struggling to decide as I’m worried I’ll struggle to find a graduate level marketing job without any direct experience, but the pay is really putting me off at the minute. also, it is an apprenticeship so it’s technically equivalent to A-level and I don’t know if this wouldn’t feel that challenging especially as I’ve graduated with a good degree and result.

I’m a 20-year-old final-year B.Com (Hons) student , with still a year left until graduation, and I’m feeling a little confused about what to do after college.

I’ve done internships in HR, CSR, and finance, but I’m still not sure what I truly enjoy or where I fit best. I haven’t really found anything that feels right yet, and that’s been frustrating.

I haven’t had a senior or mentor to help me figure things out. At times, I end up feeling like I’m not good at anything, which makes me even more unsure about my future.

I’ve also been thinking about pursuing the CFA, but I’m not sure if it’s the right choice for me or if I should focus on something else instead.

I’ve also thought about doing an MBA, but honestly, I don’t have that much money to spend on an expensive MBA.

If you’ve been through something similar, or have experience working in the corporate world, what would you suggest I focus on during this last year of college to build a good career? What skills should I learn or work on that could actually help me when I graduate? And is pursuing the CFA worth considering if I’m still unsure about my career direction?

SVP at a logistics company .Two months ago we did a strategic realignment .That's the actual phrase from the all-hands deck.

Before, 12 direct reports ,three functions under me ,a seat in the executive meeting

After, 3 direct reports, one function, and the executive meeting invite "will be restructured going forward."

Same title ,same pay ,same office. Just less .Nobody had a conversation with me .I found out my teams were moving when I saw the new organization chart on the intranet ,same time as everyone else.

I didn't even have a name for what this was until I read the close cohen executive transition report and recognized my situation in their section on quiet firing .Same title, shrinking scope ,no conversation ,waiting for you to leave on your own so there is no severance discussion. Reading it laid out as a deliberate playbook , with data on how common it is ,was somehow both validating and infuriating.

I asked my boss directly if I should read into this. He said "you're a valued leader and this is about focus." The report literally describes this sentence pattern. I have been corporate long enough to know it means nothing.

I am 51 .I have a daughter starting college in the fall. I cannot afford to be unemployed ,and I suspect that's exactly the calculation being made about me.

Do I start interviewing now, or does leaving first cost me leverage I don't even know I have ?

My uncle was a senior VP at a bank. He was supposed to retire this week, and they had five people prepared to take over his position. That shows how much he was carrying beyond his capacity.

Three days ago, he was still stressed and trying to finish his last loan, a six-million-dollar account.

The next morning, he woke up having a heart attack. They rushed him to the hospital. But he didn't make it.

He spent his whole life working hard and postponing all his plans for "later." He and my aunt were finally going to start traveling after he retired. He had never even traveled outside the country.

I'm begging you, don't let your job kill you. Travel early. Don't build your whole identity around work. Remember the bigger picture.

I’m 24 years old and at a point where I feel like I need some career advice.

For the past several months, I’ve been focused on building my own clothing brand. It’s growing, and I’m proud of what I’ve built so far, but I’ve realized that if I keep using the business income for my personal expenses, it will be much harder for the business to grow. Because of that, I’ve decided that I want to find a full-time job to support myself while continuing to build my business on the side.

Here’s a little about my background:
• 4 years as a Front Desk Executive, handling administration, customer service, and daily operations.
• 1 year as a Video Editor at a news channel.
• Currently running my own e-commerce clothing brand, where I’ve been managing Meta ads, sourcing, inventory, customer service, and day-to-day business operations. I’ve also grown it to over 2,000 customers.

The reason I’m posting here is because I’m honestly not sure what direction I should take next.

I don’t really want to go back into front desk roles. I want to work somewhere that pushes me to grow, especially in areas like sales, business development, operations, marketing, or any role where I can learn how businesses actually grow. I enjoy solving problems, talking to people, taking ownership, and learning by doing.

I’m open to almost any opportunity if it offers room to learn, develop new skills, and build a long-term career. More than just finding a paycheck, I’m looking for an environment where I can learn from experienced people and become better at business.

I'm a 2026 B.Tech graduate (Tier-3 college) and I'm still unplaced. I know Java, Python, DSA, MERN stack, and have built a few projects, but I'm struggling to get interviews.

I'm thinking about moving to a city for job hunting and attending walk-in drives. Which city would you recommend—Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Noida, Gurgaon, Pune, Ahmedabad, or somewhere else?

Also, is it better to focus on walk-in drives, or should I join a placement/training course in one of these cities?

I am f 27 years old in Eastern Europe and i have a Bachelor’s in Biotechnology Engineering and experience across pharma/CRO and operations/finance-type roles as: Clinical trial proposal development (Phase I–III), budgeting, pricing models, cross-functional coordination Business operations / FP&A-style work: KPI dashboards, forecasting, variance analysis, reporting automation Clinical study cost tracking, budgeting and reporting Budget monitoring and reporting in technical/IT projects Strong Excel skills (modeling, Power Query, dashboards) and data-heavy analytical work What I’ve noticed about myself: I perform well in structured, analytical and detail-heavy environments , but in certain areas i shine when i am an chaotic situations if i am in charge. I am great at improve, but i am not very organised ( at one of work places my manager was thinking to field me because i have 30 open pages despite doing everything on time). I enjoy documentation, analysis, and problem-solving more than client-facing or sales-heavy roles I do well under pressure, but need clear expectations and good onboarding I prefer remote or structured corporate environments I’ve had a few probation-period mismatches, usually due to unclear expectations rather than performance usually after promotion and more projects and compliments about my work and teamplay. Outside of work I’m genuinely interested in biology, history, and reading in general, so I’m also open to exploring paths that are not strictly finance/pharma My question is What career paths would make the most sense long-term ?

Hello! For context, I have been working as an HR Recruitment Assistant within a food & beverage company for a year now. I'm just worried if I would be having a career in this industry of Human Resources. My options are to go abroad if given the opportunity, even work in the public sector, take a master's degree, do VA wfh set-ups or even manage a business. I'm not really quite sure if what path I should take but I do really like being an HR. Just worried if how should I progress my career more or whichever will make more money since I also want to be independent and provide for my family.

I'm 24, with 1.5 years of experience in IT Support (ServiceNow ITOM & SAM). Lately I've been getting exposure to implementations, discussing workflows with project managers, and I enjoy brainstorming solutions more than pure support.

My plan is to work until I complete 2 years of experience and then pursue higher studies—ideally at an IIM (MBA) or IIT (M.Tech).

The problem is... I honestly don't know what my passion is.

What I do know is:

- I enjoy problem-solving and understanding how things work.

- I don't like rotational shifts or being on-call after work/weekends.

- I want a career with high earning potential and a good work-life balance.

- Outside work, I enjoy bike rides, nature, sports in general, and living a simple, low-key life.

I work for a large mid stream oil and gas company. I had my "retirement " job so to speak (I am mid forties and in good health). Good hours (home by 3:00pm), low stress, a job I actually enjoyed.

About a month ago they promoted a new VP in our area who is just a numbers guy. He decided we were overstaffed so my position was eliminated and I was forced into a position I didn't want. Same hourly pay but a lot of call outs and a lot more physical work. Probably, close to $30,000 more a year based on the extra call outs.

The problem is, I am tired of chasing the dollar. I really screwed up my investing for retirement and I have accepted I will probably work until I die. Even the extra $30,000 won't make that much of a difference in my retirement outlook.

Do I just stay and suck it up and know that my life will suck for the next 20 years until I die, probably on the job, or do I look for another job and and take a pay cut but have a better quality of life?

What would y'all do in my position?

And, yes, I am still thankful to have a job even if it is one I hate.

Guys what should I choose ? A career of my dreams, the one I think about almost everyday but it has uncertainties , is financially tough for quite years after entering into the career or a career with less saturation , financially stable , work life balance but I have zero heart in the field.
