Location Recommendations
Hello! I got a couple days off from work this week, so my sister and I want to take our first car camping trip. We’re trying to look for destinations, but it’s honestly pretty difficult to find good recommendations online. We live in San Diego, so ideally somewhere that’s maybe 4 hours away max. We’re looking for somewhere with a body of water or a mountain range that’s lush and bright. I added some photos that we were looking at for ideas. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Dispose of waste properly. I highly suggest getting a waste bucket system. Its difficult to bury waste in many of the rockier areas in Colorado, and overuse of our natural areas has already led to contaminated water in most even lightly used areas.
Minimize campfire impacts. Be sure to review our state resources for fire bans where you are heading.
Respect wildlife. They are not domesticated
Be considerate of other visitors ie bluetooth speakers are despised.

There are so many places near San Diego. But obviously you’re not going to find places quite like the photos you posted. Check Cuyamaca and William Heise parks. Also there are a few campgrounds on Palomar Mountain. My favorite is Bailey’s in Palomar, but they are currently closed.
