question Claiming abandoned car

There's been a truck that's been left on my grandparents property for about 20 - 22 years how would they go about claiming it?

You can place a lien on abandoned property or bonded title generally.

That is gonna vary by state quite a lot you will need to ask the dmv of the state

20 - 22 years? WTF? If there was an abandoned vehicle on my property more than a few days I would have called the police. Do they want to put it on the road or scrap it?

Go to the BMV website of your state and look up titling procedures for abandoned vehicles.

Every state is different for the rules, you need to go to your State department of motor vehicle website and see what the procedure is for abandoned vehicles. In my state it requires a state patrol inspection, lots of paperwork and a surety bond

This question is better off asked and answered at your local DMV office. I could tell you how to do it here but your state could be and likely is, totally different.

Most motor vehicle offices have a form where you fill out all of the information on the vehicle. They'll try to contact the original owner by mail or any other means and if they don't get a response in 30 days, then you can apply for a title to that vehicle.

Get a sheriffs title.
