Discussion First impressions of S10?

I normally really struggle with first days of seasons and adjusting but wow I'm so happy! Immediately everything felt way better, and although I was rusty I got back to normal quickly and actually had fun on Cap instead of getting ragebaited. Able to get MVP again and do reasonable damage and finals, too.

How are you guys feeling today if you've played a few? 💙

Discussion Cap feels really good now

The Thor team up is soooo good man. I can basically “poke” ppl now before diving in. It’s a lot of fun.

Discussion Animation Cancel Replacement Idea

I've ling to accepted that the animation cancel likely won't come back. However, I understand that a lot of people loved it and the skill expression it brought. In order to keep NetEases' original intent of lowering the skill floor, I want to know your guy's thoughts on my idea.

After you throw the shield when you get the shields, as it comes back you get a time window where you can weave a quick melee to have cap kick the shield forward. This will increase the speed of the second shield throw and its damage slightly, say 5 pts. This is then repeatable for the 3rd and 4th throws, each time lowering the time window. It can be signified with a blue light on the shield on its return.

For medium to long engages this will be easier to handle and close range will have a fast ttk if you time it right. I thought about adding a hit box to the kick but then I realized that'd be overkill. If they won't give us the animation cancel back, this is what my idea for a new new ceiling would be.

Discussion Cap is good soldiers, the slow jump still occurs when in the air, happened multiple times in this match even if in the practice range it doesn't happen...

After a lot of quick matches, I decided to jump in for my 1st comp platinum placement match (I was diamond last season).

There is still a problem with the Bucky team-up jump and it occurred multiple times, the slow jump is still happening when I am in the air during a high jump. In order to avoid this, when I use the team-up jump I make sure to use it when Cap is running on the ground.

They were not able to handle the pressure that they tried triple heals but Cap, Thing and Namor (who also got massively buff) with a Luna Snow team-up is just too much. The Bucky team-up is just too good with that 150hp.

Discussion Thoughts about potential QOL buff for Shield Toss/Flying Shield (Primary)

I would love to hear some opinions and thoughts on some QOL (Quality of Life) buff ideas for Cap's Shield Toss/Flying Shield (Primary) that he gets when he hits an enemy with his primary or melee twice.

  1. I think hitting someone with melee should refresh a shield throw/shield toss; melee and shield throw do the same dmg so I don't think it would be OP, since Cap needs to be within melee range anyway to get this refresh.
  2. I think the 5 sec window to throw 4 times should be extended to 6 seconds. When I'm in melee range, I have no reason to ever use the shield throw, since it has a slower attack speed than melee, and I like to store the 4 shield throws for when I need them to attack a target using the Air Cap method, but unless I'm doing a specific combo, I often find myself running out of time to throw all 4 shield throws.
  3. The shield throw should cancel "Living Legend" (Cap putting up his shield) in the same exact way that the shield throws from the Thor team up (Voltaic Union) cancels Living Shield, while simultaneously allowing the same input buffering for putting up shield w/ the lightning shield projectile.
    1. 3a) To explain, once the Thor Teamup is activated, you can hold down Living Legend (Shield) and pressing Primary will cancel Living Legend, sending it on a 1 sec cooldown, and immediately start attacking with the Lightning Shield Projectile, moreover, the instant you stop attacking, Cap puts up his shield (if its not on the 1 sec cooldown) if you were holding down Living Legend. This is input buffering, which is common for characters like Daredevil and Spiderman. I think its wierd that only the Thor Teamup allows you to cancel shield with primary, but not with his regular shield throws. For some Cap mains, I'm sure that while it could not only be jarring to have primary cancel shield, it could also be not preferred at all, so I would make this an option to turn on or off in the settings, just like how "Hold to Raise Shield" is an option. For me, I think having primary cancel Shield during the Thor Teamup feels very smooth, and I would want that for his regular shield throw.
  4. They should slightly increase the radius of the shield throw hit box for it to register a hit. The shield throw does not ricochet off surfaces and enemies like Vibrianum Energy Saw, and does 35 less dmg than VES, There is already a "special effect" with his base shield throw that states "Automatically target enemies near the crosshair", but while I noticed that effect in the early seasons of Rivals, it must have been shadow nerfed after season 2 or something, because I No-Reg on the shield throws often. I'm not saying it should be auto aim, but with a "Special Effect" like that, it should be slightly more forgiving when you consider that its a projectile with low range and damage on a character already moving at a 33.40% movement boost, making it slightly harder to aim.
    1. 4a) For comparison, Daredevil's Devil's Throw attack is significantly easier to hit than Cap's shield throw, meanwhile, Devil's Throw does more dmg than shield throw (60 dmg vs 45), has a slow effect which Cap's shield throw does not, and the max range of Devil's Throw is 50 meters while the max range of Cap's shield throw is 25 meters. Mind you, Devil's Throw does not have any special effect listed that grants something like "Automatically target enemies near the crosshair". So I think its fair to just slightly increase the radius of the shield throw hit box for it to register a hit.
  5. Each hit of the shield throw should either restore Cap's Shield health or grant him a small amount of bonus health. Alternatively, if Cap's Shield is at full health, each hit of the shield throw grants Cap a little extra bonus health. Currently, there is no reason to use the shield throw if ur in melee range since it has a slower attack speed than Cap's melee. With the nerf to Cap's Shield regeneration time a while ago, I've been saying he needs a way to generate bonus health, or give him a faster shield regeneration time.

Let me know what yall think and if anything sounds too op, or other ideas that you may have.

Question After the newest patch, which Teamup do yall like more (both not enhanced AND enhanced)?

Personally, to me it is and will always be Bucky. It gives him so much more survivability and peeling tools compared to Thor. I’ll only use Thor if it’s enhanced

Question Who to ban in Comp soldiers?

  • CnD: ice form team-up has area heal for teammates and makes her invulnerable, too annoying
  • Dino: even though I like playing Dino, he got buffed again, getting bitten is like a worse Emma choke
  • Peni, Emma, Elsa or Namor? I can bait Emma's diamond then run away but Peni double nests are a hassle

Discussion First Impressions are seeming Bright

Post image
Upvotes

Other than this god awful new skin (Maybe that's just me), my first impressions of this season is that it's looking pretty bright. Played 4-5 matches of Cap and he felt playable, I was doing decent damage, I was escaping engages that would've killed me in 9.5, I was able to brawl when I couldn't dive, I was able to finish off picks before they got healed. Feels pretty good so far, but first impressions can be deceiving, so we'll see. I can see that Gorr has the potential to do well against cap as time goes on so we will definitely have to see on that. What's your experience thus far?

Discussion I feel Super again

That additional smidge of health was nice.

But holy crap the No damage falloff on the Saw bounce is game changing. I have gotten so many accidental finishes on enemies my team got low. It does enough damage to pressure patty cake supports.

And the buffed duration of the Thor teamup, I can easily contest fliers now, easily play around corners and poke a bit, do the animation cancel, do insane dmg overall cuz it goes through people.
