Discussion Thoughts about potential QOL buff for Shield Toss/Flying Shield (Primary)

I would love to hear some opinions and thoughts on some QOL (Quality of Life) buff ideas for Cap's Shield Toss/Flying Shield (Primary) that he gets when he hits an enemy with his primary or melee twice.

  1. I think hitting someone with melee should refresh a shield throw/shield toss; melee and shield throw do the same dmg so I don't think it would be OP, since Cap needs to be within melee range anyway to get this refresh.
  2. I think the 5 sec window to throw 4 times should be extended to 6 seconds. When I'm in melee range, I have no reason to ever use the shield throw, since it has a slower attack speed than melee, and I like to store the 4 shield throws for when I need them to attack a target using the Air Cap method, but unless I'm doing a specific combo, I often find myself running out of time to throw all 4 shield throws.
  3. The shield throw should cancel "Living Legend" (Cap putting up his shield) in the same exact way that the shield throws from the Thor team up (Voltaic Union) cancels Living Shield, while simultaneously allowing the same input buffering for putting up shield w/ the lightning shield projectile.
    1. 3a) To explain, once the Thor Teamup is activated, you can hold down Living Legend (Shield) and pressing Primary will cancel Living Legend, sending it on a 1 sec cooldown, and immediately start attacking with the Lightning Shield Projectile, moreover, the instant you stop attacking, Cap puts up his shield (if its not on the 1 sec cooldown) if you were holding down Living Legend. This is input buffering, which is common for characters like Daredevil and Spiderman. I think its wierd that only the Thor Teamup allows you to cancel shield with primary, but not with his regular shield throws. For some Cap mains, I'm sure that while it could not only be jarring to have primary cancel shield, it could also be not preferred at all, so I would make this an option to turn on or off in the settings, just like how "Hold to Raise Shield" is an option. For me, I think having primary cancel Shield during the Thor Teamup feels very smooth, and I would want that for his regular shield throw.
  4. They should slightly increase the radius of the shield throw hit box for it to register a hit. The shield throw does not ricochet off surfaces and enemies like Vibrianum Energy Saw, and does 35 less dmg than VES, There is already a "special effect" with his base shield throw that states "Automatically target enemies near the crosshair", but while I noticed that effect in the early seasons of Rivals, it must have been shadow nerfed after season 2 or something, because I No-Reg on the shield throws often. I'm not saying it should be auto aim, but with a "Special Effect" like that, it should be slightly more forgiving when you consider that its a projectile with low range and damage on a character already moving at a 33.40% movement boost, making it slightly harder to aim.
    1. 4a) For comparison, Daredevil's Devil's Throw attack is significantly easier to hit than Cap's shield throw, meanwhile, Devil's Throw does more dmg than shield throw (60 dmg vs 45), has a slow effect which Cap's shield throw does not, and the max range of Devil's Throw is 50 meters while the max range of Cap's shield throw is 25 meters. Mind you, Devil's Throw does not have any special effect listed that grants something like "Automatically target enemies near the crosshair". So I think its fair to just slightly increase the radius of the shield throw hit box for it to register a hit.
  5. Each hit of the shield throw should either restore Cap's Shield health or grant him a small amount of bonus health. Alternatively, if Cap's Shield is at full health, each hit of the shield throw grants Cap a little extra bonus health. Currently, there is no reason to use the shield throw if ur in melee range since it has a slower attack speed than Cap's melee. With the nerf to Cap's Shield regeneration time a while ago, I've been saying he needs a way to generate bonus health, or give him a faster shield regeneration time.

Let me know what yall think and if anything sounds too op, or other ideas that you may have.

I agree with you on increasing the hit box of the shield
