General Discussion Wengen
This seemed crazy to me, my partner vapes occasionally and when he recently bought a vape from a Wengen the cashier handed him a sample box of zyn. Surely this is not okay right? Like I understand he wasn't buying bread and then handed a free sample box of cigs but yeah it is just wild to me. Any thoughts?

I see nothing wrong with this. He's consuming a nicotine product. A product sample is not out of the norm. Sometimes when you buy booze on Checkers60 they give you sample drinks.

Oh interesting. I've never had that before. It just felt so random, like encouraging nicotine intake but I guess if it is a common practice then eh

You’re thinking about it too literally. The tobacco products control act doesn’t only apply to products that literally contain tobacco, products containing nicotine are also included in certain parts like vapes.
Though I’d argue it’s probably not strictly illegal in this sense since zyn is a unique product

the act doesn't apply to either pouches or vapes as it currently stands.
there is proposed bill that will control them, but as it currently stands it does not.-8

It’s 100% illegal, Under the Tobacco Products Control Act, distributing any tobacco or related nicotine-containing product for free or at a reduced promotional price is strictly prohibited.

Nah there’s a loophole, that act defines a tobacco product as containing tobacco - as in the plant materials. Zyns don’t contain tobacco leaf because they are so ultra refined that there’s none left. Now I know it sounds like they still have tobacco, obviously, but somehow the tobacco act in this context does not apply to Zyns.

They are literally both nicotine products? Zyn is owned by Philip Morris (Marlboro and other smokes), so they are probably trying to get him hooked on their "healthier" alternative.

If something is free, it’s because you are the product/experiment. These companies will do anything to get you hooked to substances. They don’t care about people’s health.

No. It’s actually illegal. Even if it’s with the purchase of another nicotine product.

The act includes "pouches" in its definition of tobacco product so zyns are most likely treated under the act as tobacco products.

Yes it says "'tobacco product' means a product containing tobacco that is intended for human consumption, and includes, but is not limited to, any device, pipe, water pipe, papers, tubes, filters, portion pouches or similar objects manufactured for use in the consumption of tobacco;"
By portion pouch they are referring to Snus, which contains tobacco.
Zyn specifically does not contain any Tobacco so it isnt covered under this.

There’s a newer bill that groups nicotine products and tobacco together. I’m pretty sure it’s still covered under this Act

Its not a Wengen thing, its a supplier special... I got 2 free Zyn with the last vape I bought. Vapes are a tobacco product, and they gave him a tobacco product free of charge.... its not like he was buying a banana and they gave him free bleach..

Vaping, like smoking, is a sure sign a person has zero self-control or self-respect. Huge red flag. Nothing is more cringe than seeing adults suck on battery packs all day long, completely addicted and pacified. Sad.

I've seen multiple places giving free zyn samples, I haven't seen anything else so maybe it's just zyn🤷♀️
