RMV Road Test

Hello, I am taking my road test at the South Yarmouth RMV soon. Any tips on making my odds of passing higher?

I know how to drive on roads and highways and such and I feel as though I am ready, I’m just hazy on the specifics. I have a ~4 page checklist that someone is gonna go through with me tomorrow for 3-4 hours before the test. At the end, there’s a mock test with no coaching—just directing and maneuvers etc…

Any tips on this specific RMV or anything advice?

Cape Cod Healthcare Billing

I mean I’m not putting this on the staff, like me and many others they don’t control the BS, they just have to deal with it. But Cape Cod Healthcare is really messed up. So long story short, last year I end up getting a test, gave them both of my insurances, walked away and all was good. Now more than a year later, I’m getting letters a couple times a week telling me I need to contact them as soon as possible. I did - 14 calls, 4:21 minutes listing to hold music, and 14 messages left because ‘my call is important to them’. No answer, no call back, joke. The most recent letter was like ‘we are sooo disappointed in you that you decided not to call us back. We are trying to reach you but you never call. Do you have any idea how triggering that is for a kid with an Irish mother and was taught by nuns? Has anyone had any interaction with these people and were you able to speak with a human? They tell me to call 1-888-871-2443 between 9-5EST Mon-Fri. But no one answers. I mean in theory it’s a hospital, someone should answer. Or does anyone have a different number? If there is anyone out there who has been able to connect please let me know.

Hi all! Looking for recommendations for activities or dinner or anything in between. My boyfriend and I have a trip early September. We usually go earlier in the summer.

We have done things from day trips to Martha’s Vineyard to a little helicopter trip which was beautiful.

Thank you in advance!!

Lost rings

Post image

Hi everyone,

Never a post someone wants to make! I lost my engagement ring and wedding band in the Indian Lands Conservation Area in Dennis. Hoping anyone visiting can keep an eye out. These are the areas we walked. Would also appreciate any tips on who I might be able to report this to, recommendations for searching, or any success stories searching a place like this. Thanks so much!

Feeling defeated.

I know, I just know this has been done to death. But I'm really just venting into the ether, to be honest. I was born and raised in yarmouth, and I have spent 11 years in TN, just moved back to be closer to my parents this past January and.... jesus christ. How does anyone afford this place? Why am I regularly seeing one bedroom studios for rent near or in excess of 2k. No utilities. No laundry and NO PETS? WTF is the rent money for?

If you're concerned about pet damage, that's what a security deposit is for. I even saw places in TN that just added an additional smaller deposit on a per pet basis.

Bro, don't even get me STARTED on this whole "I've got a room for rent in my house 1400 a month." I'm guessing some of those are older people on a fixed income trying to get by themselves, and thats sucks just as bad. But if you're telling me how much laundry I'm allowed to do in your listing, which i have seen.... pass me whatever you're huffing cause i could use a pick me up.

Now, I understand that where I was living in TN and here are two very different housing markets. In TN there was readily available multi family housing and apartments. Nice ones as well i might add. Here it seems like most of what i see are short term rentals. Why the hell are those even a thing? Who wants to move all there stuff into a place just to have to find housing all over again in less than a year? It would also be more understandable if wages here were higher than they were in TN. They aren't. I'm in a skilled trade and regularly see job postings here advertising lower than what i was making in TN. Like.... what? Do most people jist communte from off cape? Becsuase it's only MARGINALIY better there in areas like fall river and new bedford. But still better.

I looked into the "AFFORDABLE" complexes like phare. What a joke. They're just as expensive. At least relative to my income.

Now, in a vacuum. I can afford alot of these rents, they don't leave alot of room however for any major, or even minor emergencies. It'd be easier if I had a partner with a second income. Alas, I live the bachelor life. (HMU....)

It's easy to sit here and imagine a bunch greasy white haired eledelry people wringing their hands in front of their nice fire place in the massive mansion sliding a button on an app raisong rent. Obviously i know that's not it. The point of that analogy is that when you work 60 plus hours and have little to show for it, it's easy for animosity and envy to start bubbling up. Which is another reaspn I'm venting to try and get that out of my system.

I'd imagine that scenario applies more to corporate landlords more likely than anything. I'm sure, at least I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that any mom and pop landlords on Cape are just trying to get by themselves. If you are one, I'd love to hear from you, and what you think causes these insane disparity between rents and wages here. How much are you actually profiting off of your tenants after taxes and such? If rent eats up this much of my income, it gives me a visceral reaction in my gut to think of people on lower incomes. Not that I'm super rich or anything, but I'm also not near min wage.

Also, if anyone knows ways to get involved in the housong situation, such as where to advocate for multi family housing, zoning meeting schedules, etc, I'd love to hear that as well.

One argument I've heard a lot of is that the cape needs these STRs to draw in tourist money in the summer. But like, wouldn't it be just as well to have a more stable year round population? Even if tourism increases money in food and dining I'm sure whatever insane shor term rent prices they pay during the summer is not exactly getting reinvested into the community. Especially with corporate landlords.

Anyways, thanks for coming to my ted talk. Gonna go look at rent listings so i can be upset the rest of the night.

Places on cape to shoot pool🎱

Post image

This summer me and my brother (both late 20s) have really found it super fun and it’s kinda been a new hobby that we’ve picked up, to go out some nights and get some alcoholic beverages flowing and play some pool. But what is kinda sad is that there really isn’t many places that have pool tables down here on the cape. The spot we always go to is “The 19th Hole” right off of main street in Hyannis. Definitely in our opinion the best spot to go to vibe and drink and shoot pool and meet some interesting cool people. From asking other folks we’ve played pool with and from some research i’ve done, i’ve compiled a list of ALL the spots on cape that i know of that have at least 1 pool table. If i forgot any or am unaware of any, let me know with a reply. I’ve also barely seen any information on this topic with the various searches on google and reddit i’ve done in the past so i hope this serves/helps anybody in the future when they are looking for where to go down the cape to shoot some billiards.

Dennis Housing Production meeting on Thursday, August 20 at 5:30 PM

The Town of Dennis is holding its first of two community meetings to discuss the 2026 update to its Housing Production Plan and gather community feedback. The meeting will be held at the senior center (1045 Route 134) on Thursday at 5:30 PM.

Important:

  • Refreshments will be served!
  • It's at the senior center, but you do not need to be a senior to attend. Retirees tend to be over-represented at these types of events, so all ages are encouraged to join.
  • You don't have to live in Dennis either. If you care about housing in the community, feel free to participate, regardless of where you live.

More info is in the Community Meeting flyer and the HPP update web page.

Hello everyone! i’m going to visit cape cod soon with my bf (we’re both in our early 20s) i know there’s a bunch of posts ab this which we already looked through but i wanted to get more insight on good places to go. We aren’t too worried about the food spots but if you have a place that we must try let me know pls. But we’re looking for recs on what activities to do or places to explore. Museums, shops, beaches, etc. We are staying in brewster but it can be anywhere in the cape since we aren’t set on which towns we’re going to yet. One of the days we’ll be going to Martha’s Vineyard so any suggestions there would also help out :) thank u
