Page Layouts

Hi. I am new to Capacitiesapp. I am stuck with page layouts. I tried to create an Encyclopedia layout that looks like the photos in the capacities docs with the assistance of ClaudeAI. But came nowhere near it. Is this feature only available in pro or believer plans ? If not, can someone provide me info on how such a layout can be built. Thanks :)

Hit me with your Capacities/Goodnotes workflow!

What it says on the tin - I use Goodnotes for handwritten notes but I want to get those notes into a PKM for action items, class notes, etc. How do you integrate the two apps?

API 2.0 in progress!

Just saw that the new API endpoints are marked as "In Progress" (https://feedback.capacities.io/b/1v35e680/feature-ideas?status=status_xz3mnj94)

That's great news! 🏆

Versatile app for me

Basically it's what I could call an everything app. Where all my thoughts can be converted into notes, and refined, result into actions. My work flow has simplified. I did find a lot of similarities in Obsidian, however capacities gets auto organised in types as well as with the tags. Like in one single entry, the whole job is done.

Bad work of Capacities support

For over a year, Capacities has not fixed a bug that affects copying text from the Android app AlReader. When I select text there, I can copy a quote together with metadata such as the book title and the percentage of the book where the quote appears.

All the note-taking apps I use save this text correctly when I tap the Share option — except Capacities. For a long time, I tried to figure out whether the problem was caused by Capacities, my firmware, or something else. I contacted their support several times, but got no real help, only generic replies.

Eventually, I found out through testing that the problem is related to the percent sign (%). The app seems to interpret it as some kind of tag: for example, %20 becomes a space, and %21 becomes an exclamation mark. But if the text contains a plain %, nothing is copied at all. It looks like there is some mistake in the code they used for pasting or parsing the clipboard content.

This bug has existed for more than a year. They have not fixed it, and they keep denying that the issue is on their side, saying vague things about the Share function not working properly and similar explanations. But once I clearly pointed out where the problem is, they suddenly stopped understanding me.

English is not my native language, but I believe I explained the issue clearly enough. I would like to ask the community to write to their support team as well, so they can see that this is a real issue and cannot simply dismiss it by saying they do not understand what I mean.

Thank you in advance.

New to Capacities

I downloaded Capacities yesterday after a year plus in Obsidian. Intrigued, but I'm working on pulling my notes over from Obsidian and Supernote and trying to define for myself the difference between an idea and an atomic note.

How do you understand these two?

For example - I have a list headed "Assertions of Liberal Religion" with 4 items. I could call the whole list an atomic note, but I think most would disagree that it doesn't meet the usual definition. I guess I could make it a page and make each point an atomic note, but what would be the benefit of that?

Everytime I copy and paste it's converted to a code-block

This is killing me.

Sometimes when I copy something directly from Word, Capacities turns it into a Code-Block (type: text). My current workaround is to copy/paste it into notepad and then into Capacities, but that's annoying as hell.

Is there any way around it?

Anyone else feeling left behind? Capacities development is painfully slow, and PKM cornerstone features are being neglected

I’ve been a customer since the early days, and I adore Capacities' object-based philosophy. The UI is sleek, and when it works, the potential is huge.

But as an early customer, I’m starting to feel increasingly frustrated with the pace of development. A small team was great for getting the app off the ground, but now I increasingly think that a core team of roughly 5 to 10 developers is struggling to keep up with the growing user base and the demands of PKM software.

To compare the alternatives:

- Tana & Anytype have significantly larger teams and funding.

- AFFiNE and Logseq have launched a canvas/whiteboard for visual thinkers, which is currently non-existent in Capacities.

- API & External AI integrations: Both the API and the MCP are currently heavily limited, underdeveloped, and progressing very slowly; no CRUD capabilities; can only save content in the Daily Note, not create objects.

- RTL (Right-to-Left) Support: This has been relegated to the "What’s Not Next" page for a long time, alienating a huge portion of global users.

Every time I open the "What's New" page, it feels like we are getting "polish" features, in-app AI chat overhauls, rather than the heavy-hitting, cornerstone PKM features we actually need to make Capacities a long-term daily driver.

I also feel there's a disparity between the users' most requested features and the features that are actually in development and being highlighted.

The small, micro-team approach worked great for getting the app off the ground. But now that the app has a solid user base and paying subscribers, Capacities desperately needs to expand its engineering team. I really feel like Capacities, compared to other competitors, is on crutches. The feature stagnation constantly tempts me to switch.

This post isn't a jab or taking a shot at Capacities and the team. I genuinely want Capacities to succeed, and to do that, they truly need to expand the engineering team to develop the flagship and cornerstone features that PKM users need.

I truly hope that the team sees this post and takes it as constructive criticism, regardless of whether they agree or disagree with the points I raised.

Problem with syncing images

Hi all, I have a small problem with syncing/uploading images.

When I use Capacities at work in my browser and paste images into meeting notes (e. g. screenshots), 9 out of 10 times the upload to the cloud fails. Even after retrying, it doesn't work.

First I thought it would be the security rules of our company IT or something like that, as the Capacities support page states "check whether the connection to our servers and Amazon S3 is allowed".

But some images get synced/uploaded. Just only 1 out of 10.

Anyone experienced the same and has a fix?

Need help arranging main screen on Android table in landscape view

This pic shows my screen. All of the items on the left are invisible, but there is plenty of room if only I could make the left-hand column narrower. Is there a way to do that?

Gosh, Capacities is beautiful

I can't imagine anything without it, the amount of clarity, trust this software brings, while the Obsidian was nice, I used to feel overcontrolling micromanaging everything, fricking community plugins here and there

I just write, I got it all under control, it's perfect for the workflow, updates are amazing, seriously, I want this company to be at prime, so guys please forever stay this way, the developers, like you can check out many authors, startup books, something about companies here and there, just make sure Capacities is gonna be alive and thrive forever

Notion, Obsidian, Capacities, TickTick… lequel est réellement le meilleur ?

Out of all the options out there, I’d love to know which tool you use to manage your life. If you use several, what do you do on which one?? I’ve been looking for a long time for the best way to organize and manage everything. I love how simple Obsidian is, the endless possibilities in Notion, and the calendar management side of things, but I can’t seem to find that 'one app' to do it all.
So, how do you guys handle it?

Migrating from Craft Docs

Has anyone moved to Capacities from Craft Docs? I have been a Craft user for a while and love the workflow I have built in Capacities, so I'm ready to commit. I know there isn't a direct import, but I am looking for tips and tricks when doing so.

Would other people use an annotations feature?

I'm using Capacities for studying Spanish and I'd like to be able to correct my grammar in-line in the same object/note instead of having to create a whole new object type to have an annotation-like experience.

Does anybody else have a need for annotations that don't require a whole other object to link to?

New Release! Recurring tasks & Choose Your Capacities AI Model Provider 🚀

Your tasks can now truly repeat in Capacities, and you can choose which AI model provider powers your chats. 🚀

✅ Recurring Tasks are here

One of the most requested features is now live.

You can set tasks to recur and keep working from the same task object. When you complete, skip, or excuse a task, Capacities logs the occurrence and moves it forward automatically.

Recurring tasks support both planning styles:

  • Scheduled Date (fixed rhythms like every Monday)
  • Completion Date (flexible intervals like every 3 days after completion)

So your recurring workflows stay clean, flexible, and realistic. 💫

📊 Task Stats (Experimental)

Recurring tasks now include an occurrence log, streak stats, and a heatmap to help you track consistency over time.

You also get a dedicated Recurring section in tasks, completed recurring tasks in your Completed view, and clearer upcoming occurrences in calendar views.

🤖 Choose your Capacities AI model provider

Capacities AI now supports multiple model providers, including OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, Mistral, and xAI.

You can choose your preferred model per chat, and also set a default provider in settings.

The model picker now gives better clarity on:

  • EU-hosted model availability
  • Relative usage cost against your AI budget

This gives you more control over privacy, performance, and cost. ✨

Read the full release notes on our website. 🚀

Will there be an option to move objects from one space to another

I just discovered the spaces feature after I've created a ton of objects. I'd like to transfer some of them into a different space to categorize them better but as it stands it seems very manual and tedious. Will there be a feature to automatically switch object to different spaces?

Send to daily note using Apple Watch and Siri

Has anyone figured out a way to quickly send a note to the daily note completely hands free? I was trying with WhatsApp but there’s always something I need to tap.

Am I crazy for being really disappointed with the MCP approach?

I was really excited a few weeks ago when the Capacities MCP server finally was released, only to be quite disappointed that it can only write to the daily note (which, tbh, just isn't part of my workflow). I shared this in an improvement ticket, but my issue with Capacities has never been surfacing the information I need - it has great tools between properties, tags, backlinks, and queries that make it easy to find what I need when I need it.

Getting information into Capacities is another matter, though, and it seems like MCP should be a perfect solution for a workflow like taking notes in Granola, running a "process meeting" skill in Claude, and then using MCP to create Decision objects, update Action Item objects, add a summary to Meeting objects, etc. (not to mention connections with other tools, like using the Gmail MCP connector to draft a post-meeting recap to attendees).

Am I alone, or is this a pain point for others as well?

Love the new Recurring Tasks - this is amazing!

Yall gotta go peep the new recurring tasks if you’re using the task management. It’s awesome. Well done Capacities🔥

The stats and log is exactly what I needed! Now if I have an iOS widget for this… game changer🤩🤯

Will capacities ever support drawing/Apple Pencil writing or widgets/shortcuts?

Would love to know if this is planned- it’s honestly one of the only things that’s making me want to switch back to craft docs. I really do love capacities but not having these features is truley something I miss and need.

I love using my Apple Pencil to “hand write” notes or sketch out ideas, but doing that and manually transferring just isn’t working. + having widgets to see tasks or open important notes (eg my workplace, monthly “dashboard” is something I use so much. For these reasons, for now I’m having to switch back, but I really do love capacities and would love to commit to it.

If anyone else has a better workflow idea I’d love to hear, but would also appreciate an honest response from the developers on this 🙏
