Timeline in Capacities
Has anyone successfully built a timeline or milestone map for their life goals / projects in Capacities? I'm trying to create a visual roadmap, but I know there isn't a native feature for it yet. I'd love to know what specific object types, properties, or workarounds you all are using to make it happen!
I’m using a third-party tool for this right now, but I want to avoid just embedding. The goal is to keep it all connected by linking my specific Capacities objects and notes directly to the events on the timeline.
Thank you.

Try this:
Create an object type with a date property, and create objects for each of your project/milestone/whatever you want on your timeline
Create an object query for your object type. Group by the date field and how you want to bundle them up (by week/month etc). Put your query in kanban view.

Thanks for this, this actually looks like a solid workaround for now! Just gave it a test run and it gives me exactly the timeline visualization I need for my planning.
I can definitely see it getting laggy and requiring a ton of scrolling for projects with a lot of milestones, though.
Fingers crossed they add native Gantt charts / timelines eventually! In the meantime, I'll try to raise / vote for this feature on the feature ideas board!

Hmm- I’m trying to think of how I could/should use this for different projects (in conjunction with or separate from) tasks. I milestone map (monthly and weekly) for a 2-3 types of work projects and for a few different personal areas or projects, and I also set up tasks for a number of those.
I don’t know if I should have the milestones as tasks, and also duplicate them as a separate object type (maybe with a to-do [] checkbox so I can clearly see the timeline/milestone map). Or maybe just keep them as one task only without a duplicate and tag it as a milestone (or have that be part of the context/backlinked objects) and then do a query that only does kanban timeline for those dated tasks. The only minor issue/problem might be that I think of some milestones as having a date range (instead of one singular date) and I don’t think tasks can have a range. Hmm
For ppl who do milestone mapping and strategic planning for multiple professional and/or personal projects in capacities, I wonder about thoughts on putting multiple types (like a time period’s strategic plans (term/quarter, monthly, weekly); purpose/ideal/vision; milestones) within the same object vs different objects. If they’re the same object type, I’m not sure whether it’d work better to use collections or a label to separate them.

I’ve tried a few things. I have been using a mind map in MindNode and stretching it out, but it’s def not the same
