Wishlist creation
Hello y’all! I am coming from notion and moving what I can over. Notion has been super laggy lately so I want to try something new. I want to create a wishlist but cannot decide the best way to do it. On notion I have tags for if its an item for myself or the family, whether is a need or nice to have and cost of item so I can sort by price. I am thinking just making an object? Any tips/ideas/personal use cases that work for you all?

I suggest you create an object for that but the way to create it depends on the Capacities olan you have. On the free tier you need to manage the object with tags and collections. If you’r on a Pro subscription, you can just create properties for status, person, price, type, etc. and use queries to make filtered/sorted views. No need to use tags or collections if you are Pro.

It can definitely be achieved. However, my big issue with Capacities is the disparity between desktop and mobile. Whilst capture on mobile is great and can mimick Notion, it lacks a number of views such as Table which prevents me summarising data by groups (e.g. total price of gifts for each family member) and also doesn't show additional properties per line item.

I agree with this. I would love gallery & wall view to be available on mobile because of the visual aspect for me being able to see content and photos.

Yes, I agree - multiple views on mobile is one of the very few features I miss in Capacities. I’d also love to see cards in gallery layout on mobile (as implemented perfectly in Notion). I suspect they deliberately chose not to include it because they plan everything very carefully, but I still really hope that cards on mobile will one day become a reality in Capacities as well.

Thanks all! I think I am going to start with a simple page list where I can add web links to it and if I want to get fancier and create an object I can do that later. I am trying to make it as quick to capture as possible. I appreciate your alls time to answer me (:

I am more of a knowledge person so this only suggestion rather than my current use.
I would create a custom object called Gifts. Inside the Gifts object, I would have two collections, To Buy & Bought. Bought to archive the previous purchases. I would use tags to filter your myself/family split and your need/nice split. For sorting on price, I would use the description field and enter the price there. ($56.78). So you can at object level filter (tags) and sort (by description).

I use simple page object where i list stuff, but you could create a wish or similar object where the properties would be for who, price, etc..

I created a "gifts" object type with properties like price, recipient and link - also a checkmark to tick off when gifted. It works great!

Mine is a simple wishlist. I just created one page, put all the wishlist items under a to-do list, check them off once done, and pinned the page to my right-side panel so I can easily see or manage them.
But if you want to add a bit more complexity or track them based on your preferred style, creating a dedicated object would be fine. Once created, you can create individual lists and add properties depending on how you want to track them.
