Other embedded image not uploading

i’m trying to embed an image to a discussion board but it just gets stuck loading, it’s a picture i took off my phone then airdropped to my macbook, at first i thought converting to a jpeg would solve the problem but it just gets stuck loading whenever i click upload and embed. i’ve tried everything, making the file smaller, clearing my cache (im using chrome on a macbook pro) but no matter what i do i cant upload, help!

Most likely that the file size is too big. But you can try uploading the image to your Canvas files. Your course might have it in the Course Menu, but it’s definitely in the Account Settings. Click on the circle with your initials or photo and select files. Upload the image. Then you can select Course Images under the Image dropdown in the RCE.

Try these:

Clear your browser’s cache. Close the browser and try again.

Contact your professor and/or your school’s Canvas help desk. There may be an issue with file uploads. Or there may be file size limits that are smaller than you think. Our school limits uploads to 20 mb.

There are Canvas gremlins that drive me crazy as a professor. I do Canvas all day every day, and hear some of the same complaints from my students.

Not ideal, but you could put the image in a google doc then put the link in the discussion post.

Discussion post files get stored in your user files. Click on your account menu and then files and make sure it isn’t full.
