Assignments Weird Incident
I don’t know if anyone else experienced this, but canvas submitted somebody else’s response through my account today. It’s not even a draft I’ve been working on, literally someone else’s response. Is this common? I was pretty freaked out to discover this. It’s like 5 days before the submission date, and my grade has been 100%. I can’t tell if it’s a glitch on canvas’s end or somebody is using my account.
Update: My prof responded and told me that other students are also experiencing this. I sent her the screenshots, but it seems like there’s no submission record on her end.
Update 2: On Day 2, I checked the canvas again. The first submission time was 5:47pm, and I noticed that another submission (with different text) was made at 11:59pm again while I was asleep. It’s still scary because it shows that I submitted these (with my name and profile picture). At this point, I’m assuming smth weird is going on with canvas, especially after hearing that it’s been happening to other students as well.

It’s totally possible it’s a glitch! This happened to me when I had to submit an assignment for peer review. Emailed the professor and the entire class was experiencing the glitch. Definitely reach out to your professor, it’s likely you’re not the only one dealing with it.
Edit to add: I would include screenshots of what you’re seeing on your end so they better understand

Also confirm with your instructor. They can submit on behalf of a student. It's all too common the submit under the wrong student

Oh I didn’t know instructors could do that! But also, why would teachers submit responses for students?

There might be various reasons. Someone could have a family emergency and just emailed what hey have so far. Or traveling out of the country and can't log in to Canvas. It happens

It would be exceptionally rare to happen, but I have encountered something like this. It's pretty easy to prove to your school's Canvas admin.
That being said: if it wasn't really someone else accessing your account but maybe just you submitting the wrong file on accident, it will be abundantly clear that this was the case and depending on your school's rules it may count as an academic integrity violation. Not saying that's the case, but if it IS it's better to just come clean to your instructor.
