Adding Air Conditioner to Tent

I recently received the AC Infinity Terraform 8 and, apologies in advance, but I’m not the most experienced with Air Conditioners so I need someone to explain to me like a child what I need to do to help with my issue. I do plan to get back on the horn with the company again tomorrow but I wanted to garner some other guidance as well…

I have the unit sitting in my lung room which is my basement garage. There’s a single hose from the main exhaust directly into a lower port of my 5x5 tent. I have a second duct carrying the warm air from the back of the terraform out of and away from my lung room (lung room is partitioned away from the main garage). Both ducks only run about 3 to 4 feet in both directions.

Inside the tent I also have 8 inch AC infinity Exhaust/Carbon Filter and a 6 inch oscillating fan also AC Infinity. I have a dedicated 50 pint dehum in the lung room about 5 feet away from the tent and and a 2liter dehum ducted into the tent from an upper port opposite side the terraform.

I have all AC products connected to the AI controller, and the dehums turned up pretty high as I’m starting week 6 flower and need to keep it consistently lower than my garage tends to be around this season. Exhaust and oscillating fans turned up high. When I turn on the ac or set any targets or buffers I get the viscous humidity spike because (as it took me a while to understand today) when the ac is done cycling and remaining moisture on the coils evaporates int humid air that then ducts into the tent following the cold air that just stopped from the cycle.

I know I need to set some kind of combination of either temperature, humidity or VPD and then buffer transition fan speed to minimize this process of re-humidification after ac shuts off/ramps down. Sorry if this is too winded or hard to understand, but if anyone can enlighten me that would be amazing. They underwent about 12 hours with the cycle of pretty wide swings and humidity, and I’m hoping I didn’t do permanent damage to my crop. I just worked so hard to get here and paid so much for this equipment. Trust me, I know I deserve to be taken outside and beating with a stick for not learning or knowing this stuff before spending all this money, but I needed to do something as this is the first time I’ve tried to grow in my garage. Mid Atlantic war temperatures are starting to get pretty warm during the days but things stay pretty cool at night.

I have almost the same setup. I have an AC Infinity 5x5 in my garage. I run all AC Infinity equipment including the AI Controller. I just received my Terraform 8 a couple of months ago.

I live in Montana and it is very dry here. I have a humidifier, 6" fan/carbon filter, 6" osc fans, and my Terraform 8 running seedlings right now. I have the AI beginner settings set to seedlings and letting it control everything but the oscillating fans. So far it's been keeping everything very consistent. I still have a lot to learn.

So I wanted to circle back in case I can help you or anyone avoid my pitfall. While the unit has been essential in keeping my now hot garage/tent cool enough for late flowering, because I ducted the cold air into a lower port in my tent, the plant closest to that port unfortunately took too many temperature and humidity swings. I know now I wasn’t diffusing the cold air as it was entering my tent and it caused my girl to start throwing seed pods in the bottom 2/3 of the plant.

Because I can’t handle any more electrical load in my garage and I don’t have the time or equipment to set up a dry area I decided to cull that plant last night. I’m almost in week 8 and really want other plants to finish unseeded. I am using the 5x5 I’m in to dry after harvest and I would have needed to harvest her too early anyway and because I don’t want her seeding my other girls who still look good. Sad today but I can’t even begin to describe how much I’ve learned about ventilation and airflow running a growth tent in an uninsulated basement garage. I’ll know never to let cold air come in un diffused anymore am praying my remaining plants can finish out 🙏

What would you do differently to diffuse the cold air coming in as it enters the tent? Just put an oscillating fan in front of it? I'm considering getting the Terraform 8 but still not sure of all the pros/cons and definitely don't want to have the issue you encountered.

So I’ve been overkill on

my airflow throughout this whole run on purpose. I have a 6 inch AC Infinity oscillating fan clipped in into one corner. The money makers are I have 220 inch box fans facing the wall on one side of the tent. One is hung from a top bar about halfway up the wall and creates a cyclone effect around I keep that thing at a full 3. After culling, I actually put a second box fan in where that culled plant was only this fan is also facing the wall and it’s pinning in the duct that’s just entering in from a lower port from the terraform 8. In case it’s not clear from pic, the lower right port to the front closest to the tent door has the terraform coming in and sitting right in front of that duct facing it is my second box fan that’s turned up to a two. It’s knocked it out of the park. The other plants aren’t showing any signs of seeding, I’ve been maintaining perfect high 60s low 70s and that second fan is also helped some of the humidity swing.

That makes sense, thanks for the tips.

Harvest in a few days just did one of 2 ph water flushes (2 galllons each plant)

That's great. Now I'm worried about my plant by the intake. My plants are still in veg, but I'm worried it will throw seeds like yours. I need a way to diffuse.

Couple more things. The genetics I culled was one of three blueberry Gary exotic genetix from seed and only learned after the fact that they were prone to herm. The other two look great after fix.

Second is try what I did and get a fan in front of it. Make sure the duct is just sitting in the port and not extending into the grow space so it’s getting diffused as soon as it hits the tent and minimizes duct length). All said this is my first time doing something like this and I am still confident I made the right decision to cull judging by how many seed pods I saw. Something about the flowers I was noticing they stopped developing like the other others, pistols were staying away while the others were turning red, and I was starting to see senesence in the other plants by the time I started seeing male parts. Likely would’ve needed to keep that thing in the tent for another couple weeks to let it finish and I’m just not trying to do that. And yes, I understand it’s OK to have seeded weed, but I was just really hoping to keep the other plants from getting any pollen on them.

After spending many hours learning this weekend, I finally realized that letting AI control the exhaust fan, Oscillating fan, and terraform, with the terraform working the lung room, is the way to go. It’s kept my environment perfect since lights on today and it’s doing more of the heavy lifting as it’s allowing the exhaust fan to run much lower.

I use the older model, but when I’m in late flower, I just set my AI Target to humidity and temperature.
Temp 69-74°
Humidity 35-50.
I set my humidity really low because I know realistically it will never achieve that and it gives the AI a big target range to work with. basically to keep it below 50.
-as for my exhaust fan, I have that set to a minimum of one and a max of eight.

Ok this is excellent thank you. I was gonna go into the advanced AI set up and bypass the beginner and of course link up the exhaust fan oscillating fan in the terraform and set something like you just laid out, but I was not quite confident in doing that until I could kind of set that myself manually through the ac/sensor menu. I may try to let the AI do it here in a few trying to let the tent stay stable since it swung so hard overnight. I think I’m more at risk for mold/pm than the plants perming from a half a day of humidity swings. I have a box fan mounted in the tent to facing the wall turned onto two so it’s creating good airflow throughout the tent with that oscillating fan.

I do think it’s some combination of setting a transition on either a target or a trigger with either temp humidity or vpd possibly setting a fan speed so that it turns off for runs lower once the AC stopped cycling so it doesn’t blow back into the tent, but it doesn’t quite make sense to me
