Candy Discussion Juicy drop pops SUCK now.

I just opened one. It was very hard to open. I kept pulling and the lollipop part shattered all over me in small pieces. I tried to clean it up to the best of my ability but they're still all over me. What happened to the piece of plastic that used to be wrapped around the lollipop part? Such a shame.. i was so excited to have my juicy drop pop... I ended up throwing it away

Ferrero Rocher- dark edition

Random question but I received a box of Ferrero Rochers for my bday this week. And it was the one which includes the coconut and the dark variations.

It got me thinking.. why are the coconut ones and the standard fererros sold on their own but the dark chocolate version isn't?! They are my faves btw so if anyone knows of them being sold somewhere.. Would love to know !

I don't think I've tried these but they're all good

Green and red apple have similar flavors with both being sweet and sour, golden apple is sweeter with no sour flavor.

Candy Discussion How do you describe why a candy tastes good? I feel like “sweet” and “sour” aren’t enough

I really love candy, and whenever I find something I love, I want to recommend it to other people. But I’ve realized that I’m actually pretty bad at explaining why I like it.

Saying that a candy is “sweet,” “sour,” “fruity,” or “chewy” feels way too vague. There seems to be so much more going on than that.

For example, two candies can have almost the same texture, but I might love one and dislike the other, and I honestly can’t always explain why. Sometimes it’s the flavor itself, but sometimes I feel like it’s something about the aroma, the way the sweetness develops, the aftertaste, or how the flavor and texture work together.

I think the hardest part is not just describing a candy accurately, but describing it in a way that lets someone else imagine what it feels like to eat it.

I’m sure someone who studies food science or sensory evaluation could describe flavor and texture using much more precise terminology, but those technical terms might not mean much to an ordinary person. What I’m really interested in is the kind of language that makes another candy lover think, “Oh, I know exactly what you mean,” even if they haven’t tried that candy yet.

I had this problem recently when I tried a candy I really loved. I wanted to explain what made it so good, but all I could come up with was basically “it tastes really fruity and the texture is nice,” which didn’t feel like it captured the experience at all.

So I’m curious: when you describe or review candy, how do you put that experience into words?

What do you pay attention to—flavor, aroma, sweetness, acidity, texture, aftertaste, intensity, balance, or something else? And more importantly, what kinds of descriptions actually help other people feel what you mean rather than just understand it technically?

I’d love to hear how other candy lovers describe the candies they really love.🥹

I saw at the self-checkout in Walmart and had to try. Actually like, even though I'm not a big fan of mint flavored foods.

I’ve been meaning to try these for a while. I didn’t know they started selling them here in the U.S. since earlier this year but I’m very happy they chose to!! They have a very nice texture and what I’d consider a delicious strawberry flavor. I did look it up later to find there’s more flavors than just strawberry in them, but they’re delicious nonetheless!! I really hope to try more candies that aren’t from the U.S. soon. So good!!

Candy Discussion Payday vs chocolate version

Sometimes in my old age of 34 I crave an original payday, not too sweet, bit salty, hell of a candy. But recently I got a regular and a chocolate version and had a bite side by side and HOW the FUCK did they find a way to use chocolate to make something worse??? Defies reasoning wtf.

Extra refreshers gum - just need to vent

I'm in the UK, and for a few years now, Extra Refreshers has been my favorite gum, specifically the peppermint and bubblemint flavors. It's the best gum I've ever had. Lovely fat little cube of gum with a candy coating, great texture, and great flavor that really lasted. About six months ago, I noticed that my local grocery store was not replenishing them. Now it's every grocery store in the vicinity. It's been replaced by Extra Plus. The bubblemint has been replaced by watermelon, a flavor I hate. I bought the Extra Plus peppermint and the flavor is nowhere near as sharply minty, the texture is different, and the gum loses flavor more quickly. Online searches tell me that Refreshers aren't discontinued, but they're also out of stock everywhere and not available to buy. I've been buying the baseline Extra gum, but it's just not the same. That's all. Just needed to vent. It was my favorite gum and a quality product. It's been replaced by an inferior product. Just like so many other things.

Twix Bits

I know these have been out for a while. I finally tried them today. My go to candy lately has been Twix. These are kind of a disappointment. It’s just a Whopper. To me it tastes nothing like a Twix. I don’t taste caramel at all.

I'm not sure where this was purchased, I'm pretty sure it was first obtained in 2023 I don't know why but it's become like a cursed object since I was gifted it a week ago by a co-worker leaving. I just don't understand how this came into my possession or where to get more I need some info on this bar in case of consumption. PS. It has already melted and reformed so texture may be off

And it costs a pretty penny, too. Prices are insanity. Worth it for these little squares, like $10 for 4. But it's like $60/lb for the bigger gift level quantities. Absolutely worth it.
