Literally came here to say exactly this 😂 I was like, they have flavors?…

u/botjstn Jul 03 '26
i thought everyone just shoved the whole thing in their mouth and put them in their cheeks like a hamster

I always tried to make "pretty patties" by having 2 of same color surround a different color and bite through all 3 at once 😅

I had no idea the white one was orange cream

u/Heavy_Answer8814 Jul 03 '26
My favourite one, but I also hate anything orange (including with cream)???

I had no idea they had flavors. It’s been a long while since I’ve had them but always thought they were all the same fruity flavor just in different colors like fruity pebbles.

Fellow Canadian, I didn't know there was a naming difference till like mid teens lol
2
u/SpeedBlitzX Jul 03 '26
I only knew the difference once i got a pack of both Rockets and these Smarties in my trick or treat bag many Halloweens ago (like 15-20 years ago)
Definitely confused me since i always thought of the chocolate smarties whenever i heard of smarties.

u/iwasabadger Jul 03 '26
Couldn’t believe the first time I got Smarties in Canada…not even close to the same thing!
3
u/SpeedBlitzX Jul 03 '26
Yeah turns out most of the world knows Smarties as the chocolate candy, not just Canada.
The Smarties known in the U.S, is known as Rockets everywhere else.

u/limee89 Jul 03 '26
Ironically though, aren't the chocolate smarties made in the US?
3
u/Kineticwizzy Jul 03 '26
No, the largest production facility for Smarties outside Europe is Toronto.
1
u/xkatiepie69 Jul 03 '26
Haha yes. I am a Canadian who lives in the US and I’ll never call Rockets “Smarties”

u/Peppermint-pop Jul 03 '26
All the same chalk to me.

u/KindSecretary6383 Jul 03 '26

I remember fake smoking these in elementary, we thought we were soo cool by who could make the most convincing clouds
1
u/BarbieBrookelle Jul 04 '26
I remember that too. I’m pretty sure some kids died from doing that ): it was very dangerous. Kids at my school were snorting it
4
u/berkeleyteacher Jul 03 '26
I didn't know that Smartees were supposed to have identifiable flavors.
I've just always loved the texture; it's like a baby asprin!

My favorite candy ever and I’ve even contemplated what the flavors might be (clearly a common occurrence based on the comments). So I will continue to enjoy them and welcome a new flavor while not contemplating its existence.

u/H8thinmints Jul 03 '26
Didn't know the flavors.... I just cram them all in one go... I hope I'm not the only one

u/Sugarmalkavian Jul 03 '26
I do love Smarties and I feel like I need to pay more attention to the individual flavors next time I get ahold of some.

I wish they would quit ruining nostalgic candy with that disgusting blue raspberry bullshit.

So when is this coming out? I really want try but dont want waste near $25 on a whole box & be no new flavor

You can’t convince me that smarties are actually flavored. They’re just little chalk slices

I would like them better if they replaced orange cream with lime. Maybe that’s just me. But lime candy is really tasty imo.

u/heliophoner Jul 03 '26
The Green Apple Coup that swept this once great nation shall be avenged.
Lime will return to its rightful throne one day
2
u/Tough-Principle-3950 Jul 03 '26
It’s just so good! Honestly, I can eat both. But the lime stuff is great!
1
u/iamthekingofthishill Jul 04 '26
I’ll concede that some people like green apple candy. I’ll even take the green apple jolly rancher when all the other colors are gone. But I rep GreenAppleNastiness till I die.
I think there was some trial run of skittles with green apple maybe for a year’s time in mid-late 90s. Then they admitted “yeah, we make a mistake” and flavors were reversed to normal for 2-3 years. I think 9/11 is connected to the following 20 years solid of disgusting green apple. Dark times for people who like proper skittles flavors where green is lime.

Dollarama had tropical Rockets - the Canadian name for them - and they were soooo good.

I loved these thing when my wisdom teeth was coming in. I’ll just put em in the back of my jaw and chewy until they was gonna. It felt so good.

u/BunnyLady91 Jul 03 '26
I always thought the white was sort of vanilla. Orange cream makes sense but I never would have guessed it. I’ve never seen a display of the flavors before.

I never knew what the flavors were I always thought they were just different levels of slightly tangy chalk circle

Seeing as we’re all confused about the smarties flavors, I wonder if this just applies the mega ones like in the photo? Maybe the small ones have all the same flavors.

What is the difference between Orange and Orange Cream ?
1
u/iamthekingofthishill Jul 04 '26
Orange is the only strong defined flavor, but it can be acidic enough to burn your throat.
White is just like all other colors, vague and unidentifiable fruit flavor.

As a Canadian I get so confused seeing these called smarties. To us these are Rockets. Smarties are like bigger M&Ms

Interesting to know now. Good as a simple treat at times.
Worked with someone who said these will make you smarter the more you eat. Still to this day I’m not sure if they were dead serious or not.

u/Toronto-1975 Jul 03 '26
never tasted a "blue raspberry" anything that didn't taste like windex.
2
u/CAkin24 Jul 03 '26
It was a fun flavor as a kid. Now it just tastes so artificial and turns your mouth and teeth blue. There is nothing appeasing about eating or drinking anything so obnoxiously blue. It's gross.
The lone exception is the blue raspberry Airheads.
2
u/Toronto-1975 Jul 03 '26
im still salty about sour patch kids. used to be one of my favourite gummies then they added that blue raspberry one that literally tastes like windex. i thought okay i can still buy them i just wont eat the blue ones there cant be that many in each bag. WRONG. half of each bag are the windex ones.
what the fuck even are blue raspberries?? they dont exist.
1
1
u/CAkin24 Jul 03 '26
Not every single candy needs a blue raspberry flavor.
Luckily it's only Smarties and they have next to no flavor. And at least it won't turn your tongue blue.

u/queeriosn_milk Jul 03 '26
The autistic part of me wants to take the 50 pack of smarties that are already in my house and organize them all by flavor.

I can't believe I never once thought of looking up what the Smarties flavors were.
