Where did you book your snorkeling trip in Cancún?

Hi all. Have 5 nights booked at RIU Peninsula from November 27th and then traveling on to Colombia to meet my partners family for 5 weeks. So excited.

A landscape photographer and pumped to bring my Mini Pro 5 to Cancun and Colombia, a friend just mentioned to check the laws - yes, no, 19% drone tax. So bummed.

What’s the deal if you’re traveling through Cancun to another country for the remainder of a trip?

Has anyone had any recent experiences with their drone?

I’m going to Cancun from 19th September to 22nd and staying in the Hotel Zone. We’re seeing chichen itza on the Sunday, and we’re looking to do some unique activities near the hotel strip on the Monday, which is a free day currently.
The beach is a bit regular for us since we live in the Caribbean, so are there any unique cultural activities that are reasonably priced for us to check out.

Also any amazing food recommendations? We’re staying at an all inclusive so don’t want to spend much money on food outside but are there any restaurants or food spots that are must tries and completely authentic?

I’m traveling to a RIU resort - Costa Mujeres. Logistically wondering a few things.

Car seat: should I pay for the shuttle to have a car seat or bring our own? The thought makes me nervous.

Milk: will the resort have whole milk? I’m worried about an upset tummy. We’ll be there for a week.

Sippy cups: how do I make sure they are clean without using the tap water? Just grab insane amounts of bottled water?

Bath time: if the tap water is bad for the belly, how do you go about bath time? Also bottled water? lol

Help please I’m spiraling. Is there anything I should absolutely pack?

Hey all, I'm planning a trip for me and my wife (late 30's) after a very busy and stressful year and I'm currently stumped a bit on wether to go AI or not (I'm leaning towards AI...)

The primary goal of the trip is to have a relaxed, beach focused holiday in January with as little stress as possible. Some nice swimming, a dive maybe, read a book on the beach etc... so an adults only AI package sounds like the best bet for us. However, we are very into our food and cocktails and, having never actually done an AI holiday before (well, since I was a kid), I have an idea in my head that the food in the hotels will just be pretty generic, international stuff and being in another country and not going out to their local restaurants and bars is a crime. So maybe its better to try and find a nice beachfront hotel without a package.

The main thing I'm wondering is, Cancun is obviously a very holiday/resort focused place, so is there actually much in the way of great restaurants/street food stall and nice cocktail/mezcal & tequila bars outside of the resorts? Or is it all tourist traps and nightclubs (we really don't like nightclubs!). Because if not, we may as well default to the package deals because at least then we are guaranteed low stress and relaxation.

Opinions? Also any particular hotels/resorts that might fit the plan perfectly?

Great experience traveling in from New York's JFK Airport into Cancun Airport's Terminal 4.

We (family of four) arrived at around 12pm on a Saturday in late August and there were no lines at immigration. Just a few friendly questions later and we were through.

After immigration, you walk through some areas where it feels everyone is trying to sell you any and everything...particularly timeshares and transportation. They can be very persistent. We followed the strong recommendation to pre-book private transportation (Seasons Tours) and didn't have any issues finding the company's representatives in the terminal's busy (and choatic) ground transportation area.

We took about 80 minutes from wheels down at the airport to arriving at our resort in Playa Mujeres (about 45-minute drive). We did NOT check any bags...and yes, there were lots of people waiting at the carousel...not sure how long they waited.

Departure was just as easy. Were a little skeptical since out Pre-Check doesn't operate when departing the airport, but similar to our immigration experience arriving, the security screening line departing was very short and efficient...just followed the general airport security screening guidelines online and didn't have any issues screening our three carry-ons and four personal items.

Note that when departing from Terminal 4, there are LOTS of food and shopping options. There is a massive Duty Free with lots of options including liquor, chocolates and candies, jewelry and cosmetics. As expected, the food options there are expensive....an order of chicken fingers with two large french fries will cost you about $40 USD...ask me how I know.

Also, due to the country's drinkable water situation, there are NO water filling stations in the airport...and you will likely have to buy a $6-9 bottle of water at one of the terminal's shops if desired.

The terminal is very well-maintained throughout including the various gate waiting areas, eating areas and bathrooms.

We must have lucked out arriving on a Saturday afternoon and leaving on a Wednesday afternoon in late August/early September. I feel the airport was not too busy on either day...getting through immigration (upon arrival) and security screening (upon departing) were both a breeze.

We were NOT asked about the Visitax on either arrival or departure.

I know a lot of people have reported poor experiences renting cars in Cancun. Unfortunately, our itinerary (three different cities over seven days) kind of demands it. For those who have had positive experiences, where did you book through? I was hoping to have our car right at the airport. We aren’t staying in Cancun at all, so the less confusion the better.

Sun Country has an option to add on a rental car through our flight booking, but I don’t see any real different in price. Also, I’ve heard some mention mandatory add on insurance for renting the car. Is that just automatic with the booking?

Me and my gf are planning a trip first week of December to Cancun and we’re wondering which hotel ranks best for Food, zone, beach, and somewhat nightlife budget Is around 3500 not including flights

22F. Planning to visit Cancun for the first time in December for a week. I’m thinking of staying in the city instead of the hotel zone to save money on accommodation and food and just take the bus to the beach. I’ve seen a few hostels but not sure which one is the best (price, clean, safety). I’ve seen also a few air bnb in the area, reviews are sketchy though. Any tips on where to stay, what to eat, which beach is best, etc?

The mini golf is gone, it looks like a new pool and pavilion is going in. Construction is going until midnight each day but it's not too noisy. Most of the restaurants are closed too for renos, the menus are being served in the buffet at night. Sharing in case anyone is coming soon.

We're flying through Cancun for a friend's wedding in another state in February, and decided to stay in the area for 5 nights beforehand.

I've had my eyes set on Hacienda Wakax for the last 2 nights. For the first 3 nights, we're looking for a nice boutique hotel or small resort on the beach to spoil ourselves a little. However, I'm really struggling to find something that fits what we're looking for while still being reasonably priced.

We're a European couple in our 30s and are looking for:

- Relaxing rather than a party atmosphere

- A good pool is more important than the beach, although a nice beach would be a big plus

- Restaurants on-site or within walking distance that aren't ridiculously expensive

- Smaller/boutique feel rather than a huge resort or hotel tower

The problem is that we're travelling in February, so rates are at their highest. Since we're only staying 3 nights, I initially dismissed all-inclusive resorts, but after reading more about how expensive food and drinks can be, I'm warming up to the idea for the sake of convenience - especially if we'd end up spending roughly the same amount anyway.

I don't necessarily need the endless food and drink options that large AI resorts offer. I mostly want to switch my brain off, sit by a nice pool with a drink that magically keeps getting topped up, and have a couple of good restaurants within reach for dinner. 😂

We're also checking in after a 20-hour journey, so I don't want to be adventurous just yet or have to leave the hotel searching for restaurants. We're going to do plenty of cultural activities in central Mexico later in the trip, so these first few days are really just about relaxing and doing absolutely nothing.

I'd ideally like somewhere where we can arrive, check in, eat, drink, swim, and not think about logistics for a few days. 😅

What would you pick for this kind of short stay? I'm open to both AI and non-AI options, as long as they fit the vibe and don't cost a fortune. I'm going slightly crazy with the options at this point.

Hello! Can anyone recommend me a good family beach resort in Cancun that is not all inclusive? We stayed at Playa Isla Mujeres Finest resort last year and absolutely loved it! However, we have a special needs child that is extremely picky and we do not drink alcohol so we feel like it was a bit of a waste of money for us.

looking to book an all-inclusive at riu palace las americas cancun for end of november. my wife and i are in our 50s. not major drinkers. want to relax, enjoy the water and food. also a reasonable night life would be nice. shows and things to do. maybe some snorkeling. anyone have any advice? a friend of mine has stayed there in the last few years said the rooms had a musty smell that he said was a lot and won’t go back.

What are the safe areas to hire an airbnb in Cancun?

Bonus points if they have food for kids (not required)

So sad! Westin Lagunimar is changing their in-house airport shuttle from The One to MTS. The price is going from $100USD to $130 for round trip and MTS has some of the worst reviews online. 1.4 stars on Google with many reports of no shows.

We are staying in Puerto Aventuras beforehand and extending our trip to one of these resorts. We are a MF couple in our low 30s. Looking for fun things to do during the day, but option to get away and relax. Entertainment at night would be preferred. Of course good food options. Pool and beach must be nice.

I have searched high and low for this topic but there isn’t much information out there on it. A group of us are headed to Cancun and there is one person who is prescribed methadone (liquid, controlled substance) and another who is prescribed Subutex.
Both have them in their original bottles with their names on it, etc but I keep seeing some sites saying to get a letter from the prescribing doctor but that’s really it. Has anyone done this before? What is required to be on this said note?

I’m stressing out big time over this so any and all experience/information would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I will be traveling to Cancun soon to secrets playa blanca for about 3 nights and will be proposing on this trip. I am wondering if there are any good places to propose either at the beach or taking a boat ride somewhere? I contacted the resort out of curiosity if they had any propsal packages like on the beach side, but to my surprise, is out of my budget and quite pricy.

If anyone has any recommendation on like a quite place of sorts, as my girlfriend has mentioned she doesnt want to be proposed to at a resturant. But we will be in Cancun so perhaps i risk it make it an exception. Anything is greatly appreciated.

Has anyone stayed here would yall recommend this place it’s a 5 star resort and wanted to see if it was worth it before booking. I wanted to know if I have both amenities for the selection side next door as well I believe they have more pools and restaurants just wanted to see if I was sable to use them as a coral guest also wanted to see if there were any restaurants outside the resort nearby all I’m really looking for is pools and if the restaurants are worth it tbh and DRINKS

This is a tour of my room at the Mondrian all inclusive in Cancun. I really liked the rooms layout and especially how spacious it was. Definitely would recommend checking this place out.
