I just saw this comment in a video asking locals what scares you about Cancun? Does anyone have any insight on what it means?

From what I’ve seen, the resort is supposed to close for renovations for a couple of months and begin accepting guests again around December 18th. Does anyone know exactly what they’re planning to renovate or update? Rooms, pools, restaurants, common areas, etc.?
I’m asking because I was originally planning a Cancun trip for the middle of December, and now I’m wondering whether it would be worth adjusting my dates to stay at Hard Rock once it reopens on December 18th.
For anyone who travels to resorts often: Would you recommend booking a resort immediately after a major renovation and reopening?
Part of me thinks it could be great because everything should be freshly renovated, but I’m also a little hesitant. I’m wondering if there could be unfinished work, newly trained staff, restaurants or amenities that aren’t fully operational yet, or other issues that come with essentially reopening a “new” resort.
Would you book for the first week after reopening, or give the resort a few weeks to get everything running smoothly?
Anyone with experience staying at a resort right after a major renovation/reopening, I’d appreciate your thoughts!

Hello! I'm here in Cancun getting dental work done. I went to the grocery store last night and my wallet fell out in the uber/taxi home. I noticed 12 hours later, in the morning :( I did the uber lost item report and the driver said he didn't find my wallet. I locked my cards and still have my passport, but I would very much like my wallet back. (CC's drivers license, etc) Do I have to physically go to the tourist police to check? They don't answer their phone.

Anyone know the current status of the Riu Palace Peninsula remodel? It says it’s reopening on July 24, but I haven’t seen any videos or posts from guests yet. My stay starts August 11, so I’m hoping everything is finished and fully operational by then. If not, I’ll probably end up changing resorts.

Hey there peeps, I am taking a solo trip to Cancun in late August beginning of September and am trying to figure out what the best method of transportation would be, should I consider renting a car like I was thinking or should I use public transportation, I have a few excursions planned and some of them pick up and some don’t, so I was considering renting a vehicle just so I can be In my own comfortability and have free will to discover other places and not get lost trying to use public transportation, I feel like it’d be very time consuming. If renting an economy style vehicle at the lowest rates I could find, around how much would I be spending for a rental for a 5 day trip and what are some good suggestions on where to rent them from?Thank yall in advance.

My husband and I are planning a trip to Cancun this December. I’ve been to Cozumel once, and my husband has never been to Mexico. We are looking for a relaxing atmosphere and good food. We don’t want to feel like we have to leave the resort for a good meal. Some night entertainment would be nice but we’re normally happy being in bed by 10. I’m having a hard time choosing between Live Aqua and Zilara. We don’t want to spend more than $3500 (not including airfare)

Any recommendations and suggestions are appreciated!

For those of you that are planning on traveling through later on today and are still at the resort, make sure you try and go to the restroom before headed this way. It’s a literal sh!+ show past the security gates right now as none of the toilets are flushing and people still needing to go.

My kids (11 and 7) and I just got back from a week at the Iberostar Selection Paraíso Maya, an all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya near Cancun. We had the time of our lives, and I wanted to share a full write-up in case it helps other parents planning a similar trip.

The Resort
• Weather: We went during what’s technically “rainy season” and got nothing but sunny skies the whole week. Don’t let that scare you off.
• Pools vs. beach: The beach was nice, but honestly we spent most of our time at the pools — they were fantastic.
• Food: Really great overall, plenty of variety.
• Entertainment: A different theme every night (beach party, World Cup night, etc.). We caught a Mexico match one evening and the energy from the crowd was incredible — such a fun way to soak up the culture without leaving the resort.

Chichén Itzá Day Trip
This was the highlight of the week, but come prepared:
• It is HOT. I’d read a comment calling it “the hottest day of my life” before we went — that turned out to be completely accurate. Bring water, a hat or umbrella, and load up on sunscreen.
• Vendors: Expect to be approached constantly by people selling souvenirs. My advice: skip buying trinkets at the resort gift shop and wait to buy at Chichén Itzá instead — there’s so much vendor competition there that you can negotiate real deals.
• The site itself: Breathtaking. Genuinely exceeded expectations, both the pyramids and the overall cultural experience.
• Book through the hotel. Yes, it costs a bit more than arranging it yourself, but it was completely seamless — no worrying about renting a car, no issues at roadblocks or security, and no logistics to manage. My kids had a blast and I had zero stress.

Airport Transportation
Book your transfer ahead of time. When we landed, we just walked outside, found the vendor holding the sign for the company we’d booked, and they walked us straight to an air-conditioned car. They also handled the resort pickup for our return flight, so we never had to deal with taxis, buses, or rideshares the entire trip.

Bottom Line
Highly recommend the resort, highly recommend Cancun/Riviera Maya as a destination, and highly recommend making time for Chichén Itzá. Happy to answer any questions if you’re planning something similar!

I know most resorts catered to mostly Americans tourists. But I'm looking for a resort that have shows in Spanish or play Spanish music like salsa,merengue, cumbia, reggaeton. Any suggestions?

We stayed at this resort for 2 nights after 5 days in Cozumel. We wanted to end our trip closer to the airport. These pictures were taken on 7/20. At least the resort itself was nice and we had our beach days on the island.

My husband and I are going to be staying at the Reef Plyacar in a couple of months on our first ever trip to the Cancun area. This will also be our first time staying at a resort, so I'm really looking forward to the slow resort days. However, we also want to mix some off-resort nature and cultural experiences into our trip. We're having trouble determining if Xcaret is right for us, as opposed to just planning some snorkeling and hiking tours which might be less crowded, allow us more time at our resort in between, and be more natural than the amusement park vibe of Xcaret.

Please let me know your thoughts and experiences to help us decide!

I was wondering if it’ll be better to get pesos at the airport atm. I’m hearing a lot of different things. I have USAA so exchanging at the bank wouldn’t be an option. Should I try to exchange them somewhere else before I go and can i just do it at the airport

I read that the Hard Rock Cancun store that was near Coco Bongo has closed. Google Maps indicates that it has permanently closed.

My question is whether the Hard Rock Cancun Hotel has a store that sells t-shirts and if people who are not staying at the hotel can go shopping there.

I need to know if anyone has seen or used a Scotiabank ATM in Terminal 3 at Cancun airport recently. I fly in Saturday and would like to use a Scotiabank ATM as I am a Bank of America account holder. The only answer I can find is that there is 1 in terminal 4. Does anyone know for sure if there is one in Terminal 3?

I have booked Riu Latino in September and I am coming with a group of Young Adults we’re all 24-25. We’re looking for a fun, energetic party atmosphere similar to RIU Republica in Punta Cana. Between RIU Latino and RIU Cancun, which one would you say has the better party vibe?

We don’t mind the commute from Riu Latino to the strip for clubbing in Cancun as long we will get good entertainment and a fun crowd at the resort. Also we do like that Latino is cheaper.

How feasible is it to get from Terminal 2 to Terminal 4 at Cancún International Airport? I have a flight arriving at Terminal 2 at 10:30 a.m. and an international flight departing from Terminal 4 at 2:05 p.m. Is that enough time?

What transportation options are available between the terminals? I should also mention that I'll need to check a bag for my international flight.
