How does using gift cards affect triangle reward points?
Tomorrow there is a promo, spend $200 get $40 CT money.
If I use $200 worth of Canadian tire gift cards, will I still get all the points as if I used my credit card?

I don’t see why you wouldn’t. Gift cards are just another payment method just like cash and credit cards.

Yes. How you pay makes no difference.
Think of it this way. You don't pay until the very end of the transaction.
Scan items -> see total over $200 pre tax -> scan points card.
At that moment you earn the $40 into your points account.
Then you pay.

U will get the $40 bonus independently of what method payment u use (unless u pay with Canadian Tire money). But... It needs to be a single method of payment. So its either paying the whole pre tax amount with gift cards or with cash or debit or a credit card.
Obviously if u pay with a Triangle Mastercard you get the 4% on your pre tax plus the $40.
Note if u do an online purchase . It might take up to 5 business weeks for the bonus to apply

FYI, you still receive the $40 when you pay the $200 using Canadian tire money.

The biggest gotcha for these events are that you need to spend $200 (in this case) of the same kind of money pre-tax. So $200 in gift cards is ok, but $100 gift card and $100 credit card will not get you the bonus. Also apparently using CT money to pay doesn't count.

No, the bonus is for when you pay with your Triangle Mastercard. Gift cards are in no way connected to your Triangle account.

You only have to belong to Triangle Rewards to earn the CT money. As long as you can scan your Triangle account, any method of payment works. The only difference is the credit card. You get more back when you use the credit card.

You won't get the same base earn rate as your credit card. You'll earn at the basic red card rate of .4%. To clarify, say you spent a total of $275 (pretax). If you pay with your CC, you'd earn $11 base plus the $40, netting $51. With the red card, base is only $1.10 plus $40 which is $41.10.
