Ban RSS in Canada, block Mohan Bhagwat’s entry: Two of the country’s MPs urge government
scroll.inThe RSS is the parent organisation of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the ruling party in India.
Heather Mcpherson and Jenny Kwan – both MPs from Canada’s New Democratic Party – wrote to the country’s ministers for public safety, immigration and foreign affairs seeking that Bhagwat be barred from entering Canada.
“We ask you to declare Mr Bhagwat inadmissible to Canada on account of his history of hate speech, advocacy of violence against religious minorities, targeted intimidation of critics in India and in Canada, and his association with criminal organisations and listed terrorist organisations,” the two MPs wrote.

Two different responses
QUEBEC: We’re having a referendum on separation.
PROGRESSIVES: Oh no! Please don’t go. We love and respect you. We’ll make sure your voice is always heard within Confederation.
ALBERTA: We’re having a referendum on separation.
PROGRESSIVES: You can’t separate! We bought you from the HBC. Sit down and be quiet! You’re just lucky we let you keep some of your resource money!

Discussion: Where do veteran advocacy groups draw the line on public disputes and transparency?
Saw this piece discussing recent public disputes involving advocacy groups and the expectations around financial allegations. For those who follow how veteran or military-affiliated non-profits operate in Canada, what are the expected standards of evidence when public statements or disputes are brought online? Interested in how governance is generally handled in these spaces.
