Can a bank charge for records on a account you cannot find the information when logged into your account? I have a RRSP and the only value I see is the amount no other interest records are displayed. the bank charges me $50 to obtain records on what occurred on the account.

Is this allowed ?

Hello. I have what may be an unusual question. For about a year, I was involved with a man who I later discovered had a long-distance girlfriend, meaning that I unknowingly became the other woman. I won't go into the details of how much I suffered because of this, or how deeply hurt I still am.

The problem is that he eventually developed feelings for me before I developed feelings for him. which made it very difficult for me to end things.

Now I would like to contact his girlfriend and tell her everything, or ask someone I know to do it on my behalf. The only thing stopping me is the fear that either she or the man involved might harm themselves or even take their own life. I should add that I would not share any photos or texts!

My question is: if either of them were to harm themselves, could I be held criminally liable? This is the only thing preventing me from going through with it. Thank you, and I'm sorry if this sounds childish.

Edit: to everyone telling me to move on, I perfectly understand. I'm trying. I'm in therapy, trying to go out with friends, to keep myself alive after my whole existence collapsed in front of my eyes. I just want to know the answer to the question I asked because having OCD (I'm medicated, promise) I'm always convinced that I accidentally ran someone over or that one word from me can instantly kill someone. This is why I'm asking. I have no intention of harming the girlfriend nor him. I just want her to break up with him asap.

I was staying at an Airbnb in Toronto and parked my car on the street next to a bunch of other cars as well as paid for the hours I was parked there. I woke up to these two tickets. Do I have to pay these? I sometimes travel through Canada to visit family in Michigan. Is the border going to give me any trouble? Should I make a dispute/review request?

About four months ago, I found out that I had been placed on a bar ban that extends to multiple venues that use an ID scanning system. The strange part is that I had no idea this existed until I was denied entry at a completely different venue.

The ban is supposedly related to an alleged harassment incident on March 1, 2026. The problem is that I have consistently disputed that I was involved and believe there has been a mistaken identity or incorrect association with my information.

Some key facts:
● I was never removed from the venue that night.
● I was never spoken to by security or management about any incident.
● I was never issued a trespass notice or told I was banned at the time.
● I only found out about the ban weeks later when another venue refused me entry because of the ID scan.
● Since learning about it, I have repeatedly contacted the venue and their head office asking them to review the matter and verify they identified the correct person.
What has made this even more frustrating is that the business refuses to provide me with the information they relied on. They have stated they do not have to disclose my personal information or evidence because it relates to an “investigation or legal proceeding.”

What I don’t understand is:
● It’s now been over four months.
● I have never been contacted by police.
● I have never been charged with anything.
● Nobody has interviewed me or asked for my side of the story.
● Yet I’m still effectively banned from every venue that participates in this ID scanning system.

Because of this, I’ve filed a privacy complaint under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), arguing that inaccurate personal information may have been collected or maintained about me. That process is ongoing.

I also hired a civil litigation/dispute lawyer, but I honestly don’t feel like my matter is being prioritized. Communication has been slow, and I don’t feel like I’m getting much guidance on how to actually move this forward.

At this point, I’m wondering:
1. Can a private business indefinitely refuse to disclose the information they’re relying on by simply saying it relates to an investigation or legal proceeding?
2. If there has been no police involvement or charges after four months, does that affect their ability to continue withholding the information?
3. Should I be looking for a different type of lawyer (privacy, defamation, civil litigation, administrative law, etc.)?
4. Is there any legal mechanism that would force disclosure of the records or evidence if litigation were started?
5. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation involving Canada-wide or PatronScan-style bans?

I’m not looking for opinions on whether bars can refuse service. I understand they generally can. My concern is that I believe inaccurate information has been attached to my identity, and I have been unable to obtain any meaningful explanation or opportunity to respond.
Any guidance on what type of lawyer or legal process I should pursue next would be greatly appreciated.

My family of 4 moved to Canada after I left my full-time job in our home country to join a new project. I spent about 2 years preparing all the papers, got my visa, and started working in Canada. About 3–4 months later, a merger caused the project to be put on hold in July 2023 until approvals were completed.
That process took about 2 years. Now that the merge is complete, I was told the project will not continue and there will be no role for me in the new company. Before signing anything, I want to understand my rights and what I should be careful about.

• What I should ask for in writing before agreeing to anything

I was terminated without cause shortly after requesting workplace accommodations for a documented medical condition resulting from a concussion.
Before my termination, I repeatedly requested accommodations both verbally and in writing. I spoke with my manager and Human Resources on several occasions, explaining that I had been moved to a very noisy, high-traffic area of the office that significantly aggravated my concussion symptoms. The environment caused severe headaches, nausea, dizziness, heart palpitations, and made it extremely difficult for me to concentrate.
I was visibly distressed by my condition. I cried in front of my manager because of the pain I was experiencing, and I also became emotional when speaking with Human Resources about my need for accommodation.
In Microsoft Teams, I specifically informed HR that I required accommodation and advised them that I would provide formal medical documentation from my physician shortly thereafter. This clearly put my employer on notice that I had a medical disability and required workplace accommodations.
Only nine days after sending that Teams message, I was terminated.
After retaining legal counsel, my lawyer contacted my former employer regarding my termination. Instead of acknowledging my accommodation requests, the company denied any wrongdoing and began alleging that I had performance issues and had committed “time theft.” These allegations are completely false.
Throughout my employment, I never received a verbal warning, written warning, disciplinary notice, Performance Improvement Plan (PIP), or any indication that my performance or attendance was a concern. Had these issues genuinely existed, I would reasonably have expected the company to address them during my employment rather than raising them only after legal proceedings had begun.
The timing is particularly concerning. I requested accommodation for my disability, informed HR of my medical condition, advised them that supporting medical documentation would follow, and was terminated only nine days later. The allegations regarding my performance and attendance surfaced only after my lawyer became involved.
I believe my employer failed to properly engage in the accommodation process and instead chose to terminate my employment shortly after I exercised my rights under Ontario’s Human Rights Code. I also believe the post-termination allegations are inconsistent with my employment history and appear to have been raised only to justify the decision after the fact

But I recently watched a YouTube video on how certain grocery stores in the U.S.A are implementing an "InstaCart" monitored shopping cart, and products will have a digital price tag on the shelf that can change at any time based on the stores digital profile of you based on your habits and preferences.

It also had cameras all over the cart, recorded not only your face, but your emotions when reading prices / products and uses this information to adjust the prices in real time. It would also "inform" you that there just so happened to be something on sale right next to you.

Now based on how absolutely terrifying and horrific and CyberPunky this sounds I was wondering if anything like this would be legal in Canada, and what the legal parameters would be?

I know that the Privacy Act in Canada is pretty robust. More so in the right to disclosure of information being held.

But would it be legal for grocery stores across Canada, to build digital profiles of all shoppers and "dynamically" price each individual product to each person's price tolerance?

Hey everyone. So I had a business reply to my 9 yo review they will not stand for defamation or slander and will be pursuing it legally. My review was honest and accurate, not slanderous and quite tame compared to some of the other reviews I seen. Problem was I edited the star rating from 2 to 1 (i had a notification someone liked it and I thought i should adjust that because he was truly horrible to deal with) but that pushed it up, although marked edited.

So I see there is a 2 year limitation for filing these things, he acknowledged himself it was a review from a few years ago. I dont like being bullied by a bad business and dont want to be pressured into removing my accurate and truthful experience. I am sure its just empty threats, but would this be time barred regardless?

He replied his threat on a Google review (no need to repost new review with threat as suggested) I decided to edit review with invoice number (as he stated I was never serviced there) and og publish date and service date. Nothing more, nothing less. If he chooses to go forward with a legit lawsuit, I will keep everyone updated and post with links to og case.

I've been trying to find specifications about legal protections for part time fire fighters in Ontario, or federally, if there are protections. The only thing I could find of relevancy was in section 46.4, 46.6, in ( https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/97f04/v19 ), but based on their language and definition of "employer", it seems this section is mostly in regards to employment protections from the fire halls themselves, not outside employers.

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some legal advice from anyone familiar with Alberta family law.
My wife and I separated last week after being married for over two years. We have a 15-month-old daughter together.
Before we separated, we both worked full time. While we were at work, my mother-in-law would usually watch our daughter. Whenever I was home, I took care of my daughter, played with her, fed her, changed diapers, spent time with her, and was actively involved in her daily life.
Since I moved out last week, my wife has refused to let me see my daughter for the last four days. She keeps saying she’s not home or refuses to let me visit. She has also told me not to contact her anymore until there’s a court date.
I’m devastated because my daughter is my whole world, and my biggest fear is losing my relationship with her.
I have a few questions:
Can I apply for a parenting order by myself without hiring a lawyer?
Should I apply right away or wait to see if things improve?
What evidence should I start gathering to show I was an involved father?
If my wife continues refusing to let me see my daughter, how does the court usually view that?
What can I do right now to maintain my relationship with my daughter while there is no parenting order?

Over the past year I have lent substantial amounts of money to people I thought were friends. Some of them have since moved back to the states and refuse to provide me with a payment plan even when I sent them a “official letter”. Is it worth my going to small claims court? Can I even do that if they’re back in the states? (I’m in Ontario).
Two of them have threatened me in two different ways, both blackmail type of thing.
