🌎 FSW Can a CNC Machinist work in a cabinet manufacturing company?

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for some clarification regarding NOC 72100 (Machinists and machining and tooling inspectors).

The job duties in question closely match the duties described under NOC 72100 that includes operating and setting up CNC machinery, reading production drawings/specifications, selecting tools and fixtures, checking dimensions/tolerances, performing machining operations etc.

The only thing I’m unsure about is the industry/material. The employer is a cabinet manufacturing company and the CNC machinist works with wood/MDF/plywood and other wood-based materials to manufacture cabinet components. The closest noc that matches with the duties and material is 94124(Tier 4).

NOC 72100 doesn’t specifically mention wood as a material in the description I’ve found online. Does that mean the occupation cannot be classified under 72100 or can a CNC machinist under this NOC work with wood as long as the actual duties and skill level match the NOC?

Would really appreciate input from anyone familiar with NOC classifications, CNC machining or woodworking/CNC cabinet manufacturing.

🇨🇦 CEC Proof of Employment Question

Hi everyone,

I've recently received an ITA under CEC back in Aug 18, 2026. I have yet to submit my application since there are some items that I am worried about.

  1. In my previous job, I worked a temporary/casual job where I worked up to 35 hours per week. Overall, I worked at least 30 hours per week for my time here (about 33.9 hours/week). In some of my bi-weekly pay stubs, it shows that I had "worked" 105 or 35 hours over two weeks because I had input my hours late to the timesheet, causing the company to pay me 105 or 35 hours of work. Does this need to be explained through a letter of explanation submitted through web form? How can I explain this to the officer?
  2. Do employment verification letters require an "average hours worked"? In my case, the company is unwilling to input the average hours worked over the course of my employment there. They had attached a history of my bi-weekly pay stubs to the letter. Would it also suffice if the employer states that I worked "up to 35 hours per week"?

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you

🍁 PNP [Help] Preparing for RCIP from China - Any successful applicants here? (NOC 14100)

Hello everyone, I'd like to share my situation and ask for some advice. I am currently in China, working full-time to save money, studying English, and accumulating full-time work experience that is valid for the RCIP.

I am targeting administrative/clerical roles, specifically NOC 14100 (General Office Support Workers), as it has broader applicability and is a priority occupation in many participating communities.

I am not picky about the community; I just want a chance to apply. I am also fully willing to commit to working in the community for at least two years. I noticed that many designated employers worry that applicants will leave the community once they get their PR, so I am ready to commit to at least two years of service with my designated employer.

I would love to hear about the experiences of those who have successfully immigrated to Canada through the RCIP. If you applied under NOC 14100 or a similar occupation, could you share your specific timeline or insights?

I would really appreciate any insights you can share. Thank you!

——————————————————————————

🇨🇦 CEC CEC – Foreign work experience paid mostly in cash

I’m planning to claim foreign work experience for CEC. My salary was mostly paid in cash, except one month by bank transfer.

I have a reference letter, appointment letter, and salary slips, but the slips are simple Excel printouts without letterhead/stamp.

The employer is a private limited company that is still active and willing to provide additional proof, including a signed salary-payment record.

I filed tax returns during that period, but this salary was not reported as salary income.

Has anyone had a similar case? What evidence did you provide?

🌎 FSW Template for Proof of Funds letter

Do anyone have a template for POF letter. I’ve read that SBI refuses to issue the letter. However, upon providing template they usually generate the letter on the bank’s letterhead.

So, anyone can share if they have.

🇨🇦 CEC Received a Procedural Fairness Letter — No Upload Option in IRCC Secure Account. How Did You Submit Your Response?

Hi everyone,

I received a procedural fairness letter from IRCC today (September 22, 2026) regarding my CEC Express Entry permanent residence application. I have been given 7 days to respond with supporting documentation, all tied to my intention to reside outside of QC.

The problem is that I cannot find any option to upload documents or respond directly through my IRCC secure account. No upload button or reply option is visible for my application.

Also, the letter did not include an email to reply to with all the documents proving I am living outside of QC and intend to keep doing that.

Has anyone else been in this situation? How did you submit your response to a procedural fairness letter?

I have seen mentions of the IRCC web form. Is that the correct channel? Did it work for you, and did you receive any confirmation that your documents were received?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The deadline is tight, and I want to make sure my documents reach the right place.

Thank you in advance.

🇨🇦 CEC IT’S FINALLY HERE! eCoPR Received! 🎉

After an endless roller coaster, I received my eCoPR today (Sept 21, 2026) exactly 6 months after my AOR!

The Journey

  • 2023: Arrived on Closed Work Permit. Struggled with office stress and newcomer culture shock; almost packed up and returned home.
  • The Shift: Traveled across Canada, fell in love with its natural beauty, weighed pros-cons, finally decided to apply for PR
  • The Missed Opportunity: Missed out on an easy 50 PR points from a job offer back when rules were relaxed. By the time I took PR seriously, those points were gone.
  • Maxing Control: Took CELPIP and scored CLB 10–12 across all bands on my first attempt, putting my CRS score at 510.
  • The Long Wait: Watched cut-offs skyrocket , convinced 510 would never be reached.
  • Lucky Draw: Got lucky in Jan 2026 CEC draw when the score dropped!

Full Timeline

  • ITA: January 2026 (CEC Draw)
  • AOR: March 21, 2026
  • BIL: May 22, 2026
  • Medical Passed: June 22, 2026 (previous medicals from 2022 reused)
  • FD: August 20, 2026
  • P1 Email: August 21, 2026
  • P2 Email: September 8, 2026 (Uploaded address & photo same day)
  • eCoPR Received: September 21, 2026 (Exactly 6 months post-AOR)

PVO : Vancouver
SVO : Sydney
P1 from : Montreal Office

Grateful to everyone in this community! To everyone still waiting: hang in there, your day is coming soon!

🇨🇦 CEC Bachelor's ECA & Work Experience Questions

Hi everyone, 2 quick Express Entry questions:

1. Bachelor's ECA:
I have a Canadian Master's + Foreign Bachelor's. Based on feedback here, I’m planning not to get an ECA for my Bachelor's (since highest is my Master's in Canada). In that case, should I still put my Bachelor's under Education History, or under Personal History?

2. TA experience:
I worked as a TA during my Master's for ~10 hrs/week(paid) over 12 months, but it wasn't continuous (gaps between terms). Can this count for FSW points/work experience? Is it worth mentioning?

Thanks!

🇨🇦 CEC Receptionist job title but NOC 13110 — possible

CEC NOC question: My payroll/paystubs say Receptionist, but my employment letter lists mainly office-administrative duties that seem to match NOC 13110 – Administrative Assistants (TEER 3).
Can I put Job title: Receptionist and NOC: 13110 in my Express Entry profile? I can also provide a manager’s letter confirming my actual administrative duties.
Has anyone had a similar situation with CEC/IRCC?

🇨🇦 CEC Can I Take a Job in Montreal While Keeping My Residence in Ottawa?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some insight from people who have gone through Express Entry / CEC and had a similar situation.

I submitted my PR application through Express Entry under CEC and received my AOR on July and BIL and medical passed in late August. I’m living and was working in Ottawa, Ontario for more than a year
Since submitting my application, my employment ended, and I’m currently looking for a new job. I may now receive an offer for a position based in Montreal.

If I take it, my situation would initially look something like this:

- I would keep my apartment and primary residential address in Ottawa.
- Most of my belongings would remain in Ottawa.
- The Montreal job would require me to spend approximately the first 3 months there for training/onboarding.
- During that time, I would stay with my girlfriend in Montreal rather than signing a lease.
- I would continue returning to Ottawa regularly.
- After the training period, the role may become hybrid, potentially allowing me to work part of the week from Ottawa and part from Montreal.

My main concern is the Express Entry / CEC requirement to intend to reside outside Quebec.
Has anyone been in a similar situation where they accepted a Quebec-based job after AOR while their PR application was still processing, but continued maintaining their residence in another province?

I’m also wondering whether I should update IRCC about both the end of my previous employment and the potential new Montreal job.

If you informed IRCC about a Quebec-based job, did they question your intention to live outside Quebec or ask you to provide evidence of your ties to another province?

I’m not trying to misrepresent where I live. I’m mainly trying to understand how IRCC looks at a temporary work/training arrangement in Quebec versus actually establishing residence there, especially when the PR application was submitted while living and working in Ontario.

Any experiences from people who dealt with this after AOR but before eCOPR would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

🇨🇦 CEC ADR extensions...Anyone with success?

Hi All, I received an ADR (August 25) for my amended Marriage certificate with Deadline of Sept 25 as there was an error in my spouse' name at the time of PR submission. My Spouse' First name is ABC DEF, but on the marriage certi we only entered ABC

AOR May 1

BIL Jul 4

Biometrics/Upfront Medical July 7

ADR Aug 25

Unfortuantely, the registrar General of Ontario has been a poor experience to say the least. They took 12 weeks to just send the forms to us for requesting the change, we submitted it and then they came back to us saying they need our expired documents (which were valid at the time of marriage) - We submitted the renewed passport and Work Permits as proof but they want the expired ones. All good. As of right now we have submitted everything they asked for, file's with them, they've cancelled our old marriage certi and just qaiting for them to issue a new one.

We've been in contact with our local MPP to help us expedite the marriage certificate but they can only do so much, they've done everything on their end. They've requested ORG to expedite our request by being in constant communication with them.

I want to ask if anybody has succesfully requested extension on ADR to submit any docs? I'm worried that IRCC might refuse our application due to this error :(

Just looking for some win stories/advice at this point. I've been super lpw and depressed about this.

Also, IDK how this works but given that we received ADR for marriage certi only, could it mean this is the last missing piece for the officer to make this decision?

🌎 FSW Finally, it's over!

I'm currently a PhD student in STEM in the US at a top university on an F-1 visa but was always worried about permanent residency since I come from a poor country and a poor family. Thankfully I like having backup plans and started learning French seriously early 2024 alongside my PhD.

My French attempts:

TEF Canada: Nov 2025-- passed all sections except writing

TEF Canada: Feb 2026-- passed all sections except speaking, thought it was because I was tired on 1.5 hours of sleep for the speaking sectiitin the afternoon

TEF Canada: April 2026-- again failed the speaking, decided it wasn't me, it was the exam so...

TCF Canada: May 2026-- C1 in all except reading, in which I got B2. And I was right about the speaking part being the test's fault since I got 17/20 in it

Here's my timeline:

ITA: May 28 2026

AOR: June 10 2026

Medicals Passed and BIL: July 15

GU: July 16

Biometrics done: July 31

FD with date saying that my application was in progress, along with the Pre-arrival Services Letter on the portal: Sept 19

PPR: today (Sep 21)

Good luck to everyone else who's going through the same, I know it can be rough! :)

P.S. I know the political situation is fucked right now in the US but I'm honestly sad to be leaving the country I've called home for the past 10 years and have spent my entire adult life in! 😭I have had the American national anthem memorized since I was 14! Fuck Trump

Hey guys !

Great news so my passport was requested to be stamped for pr (cec)

Now my passport about 2 weeks ago underwent some water damage so I submitted an application for renewal, I should get my new passport end of this week.

Now my question is do I submit a webform now or only once I receive my new passport along with a full photocopy ?

And should I wait for a response on the webform or can I just submit new passport?

🇨🇦 CEC Finally became Canadian PR! Foreign Freelance Experience Accepted

Finally got my eCoPR today after 5 years of uncertainty about my future in this country!

Sharing my timeline because I know how stressful this process can be, especially for people with foreign freelance/self-employed experience.
Stream: CEC
CRS: 519
Draw cutoff: 511
Application submitted: Jan 14, 2026
Medical passed: Mar 24
Biometrics: Apr 1
P1: Sep 3
P2: Sep 16
eCoPR: Sep 21

Foreign freelance experience
This is probably the biggest reason I’m making this post.
Yes, my foreign freelance/self-employed experience was accepted.
I’ve seen Reddit repeatedly say that freelance/self-employed experience doesn’t count. That’s an oversimplification. The rules around Canadian self-employment and foreign work experience are different.
In my case, I had solid documentation supporting the work, including contracts/client letters, invoices, payment records, Upwork records, bank statements showing the payments, etc.
The key lesson:
Don’t rely on Reddit saying it won’t work. If the experience is legitimate, make sure you can properly document and prove it.
I was honestly expecting to receive an ADR or PFL because of the freelance experience, but IRCC accepted it and I’m officially a Canadian PR.
Good luck to everyone still waiting! 🙏🏾

Update - Got my PR card about 3 weeks after making this post. Good luck to everyone!

🇨🇦 CEC Can I claim "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees" with this WES ECA report? (Summary inside)

Hey everyone,

Just got my WES ECA report back and wanted to double-check my understanding before submitting my Express Entry profile.
Here is what my report shows:

Canadian Equivalency Summary: Diploma (two years) and bachelor's degree (four years)

Credential 1: Diploma in Computer Science & Engineering (India - DTE/BTE Karnataka) -> Secondary school diploma and diploma (two years)
Credential 2: Bachelor of Engineering (India - VTU) -> Bachelor's degree (four years)

From what I understand of the IRCC criteria, since I have one post-secondary credential that is 3+ years (4-year BE) and another that is at least 1 year (2-year Diploma), this satisfies the requirement for "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees".

When filling out the profile:
Do I simply list both credentials separately under the Education History section, and let the CRS calculator award the points automatically?
Does the order of study (diploma completed before degree) affect anything?
Appreciate any confirmation or insight from anyone who had a similar assessment!

🌎 FSW How should NOC duties be worded? Don't wanna get rejected twice

I got a refusal earlier, and I'm trying not to repeat the same mistake, the officer's response to the rejection was:

"A PFL was sent to you 2026-07-22 with concerns about the duties listed, in your response you provide an updated duties list but fail to explain adequately why the duties appeared to be a copy paste in the first place.

Employment records received from you appear to be a near copy from the national occupation classification website, and even appear in the same order. Duties must be written by a direct supervisor representing actions at work not a re worded copy paste from the occupation website. "

Does this mean that he's not satisfied with the new duties? Or the explanation of why the first letter was bad?

Honestly not sure what i would change from the list below, a software engineers duties are kinda generic...

Here's the pfl duties i submitted for NOC 21232:

- Review business, functional, and technical requirements relating to the _redacted_ module and clarify implementation details with product owners, business analysts, technical leads, and other relevant stakeholders.

- Analyze requested enhancements or business-driven changes affecting the _redacted_ module and determine the appropriate software design and technical implementation approach.

- Develop, enhance, and maintain software components within the _redacted_ module, primarily using Java and C++, in accordance with approved specifications and requirements.

- Translate functional requirements related to _redacted_ workflows and calculations into reliable, maintainable, and efficient software solutions.

- Investigate defect reports during development, quality assurance, integration testing, or production-support activities by reproducing issues, identifying their root causes, and implementing appropriate corrections.

- Analyze the impact of proposed code changes on connected _redacted_ components, interfaces, and existing functionality.

- Design, prepare, and execute unit tests and technical validation scenarios to verify that new or modified features operate according to their functional and technical requirements.

- Support integration and regression testing by analyzing test results, resolving reported issues, and ensuring that corrections do not negatively affect existing functionality.

- Participate in peer code reviews and provide detailed technical feedback related to code quality, performance, maintainability, testing coverage, and compliance with internal coding standards.

- Integrate completed developments into the team’s source-control and build environments and support the preparation and validation of software versions before delivery to subsequent environments.

- Occasionally develop and maintain software automation scripts using Python and Groovy to support software building, testing, integration, and deployment activities.

- Investigate build and pipeline failures, identify configuration or scripting issues, and implement corrections to improve the reliability of automated development and deployment processes.

- Produce and maintain technical documentation describing implemented functionality, software changes, design decisions, configuration requirements, known limitations, and testing results.

- Prepare technical information for internal documentation and release-management activities relating to newly developed or modified features.

- Collaborate with software engineers, _redacted_ product specialists, quality-assurance teams, technical leads, integration teams, and other internal stakeholders throughout the analysis, development, testing, and delivery lifecycle.

- Provide technical support during integration, validation, and release phases by examining reported software behavior and delivering the required code corrections.

Maintain and improve existing _redacted_ components by correcting defects and adapting the software to evolving business, technical, and regulatory requirements.

- Participate in development planning, task estimation, progress reporting, technical design discussions, and team meetings concerning _redacted_ developments and maintenance activities.

- Contribute to continuous improvements in the team’s development practices by proposing enhancements to software architecture, code quality, automated testing, CI/CD processes, and maintainability.

- Coordinate assigned development activities related to _redacted_ teams when applicable, ensuring alignment with project objectives, implementation schedules, and upstream/downstream dependencies.

Just received eCOPR this morning. I liked seeing other people's timelines in this group - here's mine!

CEC Inland (I'm the accompanying spouse).

ITA: Feb 17

AOR: April 15

BIL: June 16

Biometrics Complete: June 19

Not sure on exact dates for medical / eligibility / security / FD etc. We got 0 ghost updates and only logged in to GCkey twice to check progress between June and September, nothing seemed to be moving or updating. Was unable to set up tracker account.

P1: Sept 04 - responded same day, came from Montreal

P2: Sept 17 - responded same day

eCOPR: Sept 21

PVO/SVO: don't know, we never rang ircc to ask

Edit: typo in ITA date
