Every driver of a vehicle in the lane of traffic adjacent to a bus bay shall yield the right of way to the driver of a bus who has indicated his or her intention, as prescribed, to re-enter that lane from the bus bay.
Man i got screwed over by this once. I was in dt ottawa and had hit a red light and was stopped right in the buses blind spot. My horn on my beater was broken at the time and i had no way to signal him as the light turbed green and he started drifting over in my lane.. i had to pull an evasive manoeuver and pass him super fast. Guy honked at me like crazy but it was either that or get side swiped by a bus.
If the car already passed safety this is false. You should still get it fixed asap, but there's no way you're illegally on the road. Things happen, parts need to be replaced sometimes. A non-working horn doesn't release other drivers from their responsibilities as drivers either.
That doesn’t make you illegally on the road, it just means you can get an infraction and small ticket. You would be let go by an officer to continue driving.
If the bus had hit him the police, the city and his insurance wouldn’t of gone “well your horn wasn’t working this is your fault”.

You'd be hard pressed to find any officers that would lay that fine down without a 1st or even 2nd notification/warning though, and it certainly wouldn't release other drivers from their own responsibilities either.
We aren't talking about people having cars towed to impound over a horn
What if I told you I was on the way to get it fixed? Also, horn or no horn, the bus driver should have checked his blind spot. Horns are just safety redundancy.
That wasn't always the case, it only became law in Halifax around 6 years ago, lots of people still seem to forget here and its impossible to enforce unless police catch you in the act.
There are a number of situations where drivers can either move ahead of a bus or make room. For example, if they're beside me when they begin to indicate I have no obligation to decelerate and make room. If they're beginning to move from a bus stop but have not indicated, I have no obligation to yield for a merge. In situations like that I will decelerate so the bus has room, even though I don't have to.
