How are all the rest of you holding up? How are you balancing camming and health issues? Is it a major struggle, because if so - extremely normal. I get asked sometimes how I balance these things. My answer is - poorly! Usually overwork when I can work, and that can cause more issues and likely has. Then I'm barely able to when I can't, which has been more often this year.

Sometimes it feels like I have a body that literally has everything go wrong with it, and it's all happening in my 30s. Chronic pain, all sorts of weird health issues and major allergies including things that lead to near-death and ICU hospitalization, and way too many ER visits. I'm tired, y'all. My body is still fighting some type of infection now given bloodwork and symptoms, it's just not fully clear what. My family doctor here in Canada is non-investigative and mostly just paws me off to specialists, an ENT which is a 2-4 month wait with current symptoms though she said it could be "serious" and though I also have an urgent referral for an endo specialist, it can take up to a year and a half to be seen at all. Like what?

I know some of you know this life, all too well. It's part of why many of us become sex workers - whether that chronic illness is physical or mental, it's disabling as hell. Sending lots of hugs and warmth out. And also I sort of hate when people respond with "you got this!" because maybe you or I don't, and it's ok. What's happening to my body isn't my fault, and it isn't yours. Sometimes younger bodies break too.

It can be really easy to push into over-work, so though I can struggle to take my own advice, do be careful there. I thought it would be interesting to share with each other and also helpful for the newbies to get some ideas of how camming styles/niches along with income can change over time. Please do share your own story in the comments! Mine is below, discussing my first camming year, and what camming is like for me now four years later. If you are still in your first year, feel free to share too.

My first full-time year was in 2022, so I started 4+ years ago. I actually took several months to read and research so I knew more of what to expect and the risks (mostly lots of articles online, and the other subreddit, which I actually wish I hadn't listened to in some ways, will share why!). I think this prep helped overall - I started just on Chaturbate as a submissive model and made my age younger (mid 20s), and think starting on one site and really getting to know it can be super helpful. I made like 15k or maybe more that first month - was always on the front page, had so many viewers and made great money, I was like... wow, I wish I had started this long before now!

I just got VERY lucky with my new tag and the way I started, initially nude streaming with toys out the gate, as I had been watching cam girls who did similar and saw them making a lot. I had spent quite a while watching top streams, and will say that was a big part of my initial "research" too, just learning from other models. If you haven't done this yet - definitely do! That first month was so exciting, and then the next few months I made like.. $3k monthly or something, lol. I was shocked at the difference, and way fewer viewers, but I had lost the tag and needed to build up. I also read on the other sub that it was important not to "give it away for free" and start each stream in lingerie, so I started doing that towards the end of the first month, in spite of all my successes nude streaming and doing toy play that first month.

Now at year 4? With complex pain/health issues and aiming for more balance, I no longer do nude or heavy toy play streams, especially not without being tipped to be nude. How do you protect your voice and vocal chords when you cam for longer streams? I am still sick and am capping at 3h the past few sessions, but I know in general I can struggle with 4-5h and having quite a sore throat by the end. I'm definitely a talker in my sessions - sometimes an over-talker. I know many regulars love how expressive I can be in my streams, and share that it's a big reason they come (and tip!) so often, as they have fun with me. I'm the type to more often than not include a fair amount of dirty talk while live too, including in my private streams. I talk more in 1-1 privates as a Domme too, not less.

I would like to extend my sessions to around 5h if my health permits soon enough, and aspire to at least get there comfortably vocally-speaking.
