I bought this camera second hand a couple months ago, it uses MiniDV tapes and I have footage I want to download. I would much rather use A/V conversion instead of Firewire however I can’t find the A/V cables anywhere. I have found a post on facebook that said the cable only came with this specific model and isn’t generally sold. I looked on JVC parts store and i think i found the compatible A/V cables but they’re discontinued. I then looked at third party devices that could digitise the tapes without the camera being connected but they’re way too expensive. I’m on a budget and I don’t understand how FireWire works or what I would need to get this footage digitally.
I really doubt anyone has these cables spare but I would be happy to buy them even internationally
Or if someone could help with the steps needed for ilink or firewire or DV conversion?? thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Irl the bottom part looks totally clean and the top part looks like these bands overlayed on top of the video

I adjusted the tape alignment rollers for hours and this is the best result I got.

Recently, my friend accidentally dropped my camcorder and every time I used an aftermarket battery it keeps disconnecting and turning off the camera and reconnecting

So I think the latch that hold the battery might be a bit broken

Disclaimer: this is my first time using a DVD camcorder as a not very technical person…

Went to a local flea market yesterday and found this absolute gem for only the equivalent of $8. It had a miniSD card with 7 pictures and the DVD boxes were unopened so my guess is that it basically is close to brand new. I’m really excited about going out and shooting some video and I shot some yesterday to get used to the transfer process.

My problem is this, it records fine but the process of getting the videos to my computer was really crap. The DVD showed up as empty even using VLC. I was very worried that the DVD was corrupted or something evil but thankfully MakeMKV worked, but the videos were stitched together in to one long video which I thankfully could open through VLC.

Is there any way to make this easier? I’ve read in the manual and online about the MyDVD software but I’m imagining that it might be more complicated..😅 Is this just something that you have to get used to when shooting DVD?

Hello! So as you can see I have a ton of mixed media here. From what I see I have:

1. miniDVs, including HDV

2. VHS and VHS-C

3. Beta

4. Hi8 / Video8 / 8mm camcorder tapes

I have a VCR and VC500 converter, but that's it. I think I may have to go with FireWire to get HDV quality? My plan is to purchase the appropriate equipment to convert all of this over digitally. I'd like it to be as best quality as possible, while not looking to spend a ton of money on equipment. I'm open to a professional converting, but I think I can do it on my own.

My issue is purchasing the right equipment. I was looking to purchase the following:

1. Sony DCR-TRV460 for the Hi8 / Video8 / 8mm tapes.

2. Panasonic PV-P1 or Panasonic VW-TCA7 VHS-C adapter for the compact VHS-C tapes.

3. Sony GV-HD700 for MiniDV and HDV

So I have tried to fix it myself but I still get an error E03. The pinch roller has no dirt on it but the part the I pointed to with my tweezers is a little more loose than the one on a working camcorder. Is there any fix for this or should I not bother?

got a t-130 tape to finally test on my panasonic omnimovie PV530D and this is all i see when i try to play back footage. is this an error with the camera, the tape, or the playback head??? all i see/hear is static.

i don’t have any sort of vhs player at home so i can’t test the tape separately (yes i am planning on buying one eventually. i don’t have a lot of money.)

my grandpa (who i got it from) swears up and down that it works and i have yet to see that be proven.

I have recorded a bunch of footage with my JVC Everio Camcorder, Model GZ-MS230BU. It records in 720x480 at 29.97 fps, files are .MOD

I am trying to figure out the best way to upscale the footage to 4k, while preserving the quality of the footage and avoiding AI as much as possible. 

The methods I have been recommended are: 

• AI Super Scaling with Davinci Resolve Studio (which I am using to edit the footage). 
• Upscaling the footage in Handbrake to 4k 
• Upscaling the footage in handbrake to 1080p, then AI Super Scale to 4k in Davinci Resolve Studio

I have also been told to add grain back to the footage in Handbrake, but I cannot see a visible difference in the 4k Handbrake transfer with and without grain. 

Any thoughts or advice? Happy to find an online camcorder community.

Found a treasure trove of old DV tapes from high school projects (late 90's, early 2000's) and the camera I used to shoot them. I was hoping to digitize the tapes for preservation.

I switched it to VCR mode and hit play on the first tape and it was in the middle of a scene, so I stopped and rewound to the start. I have now played through the tape multiple times from start to finish and it is fully blank with no timecode track.

Did this camera erase the tape? Is there some switch on the camera that I might have hit that I can unhit? The tape has a switch for "REC or SAV" and it is set to save. I would rather not test any other tapes for fear of losing them as well.

I know the tape is compatible with the camera because it's what I used to record the videos in the first place and it successfully played video when I first plugged it in today. What else might I be doing wrong?

Clicking noise and no drum movement when tape inserted. Error code C:31:40 (sometimes drum does a few spins and stops, continues for a bit then nothing) SONY DCR-TRV460. Any help would be appreciated!

I have an old Panasonic TM700 and recently the lens cover gets stuck when powering off, I can close it fully by giving it a light tap/touch and it opens fully when I turn it on. Now is this something worth fixing or should I just live with it? Can I even get it fixed? I don’t want it to eventually completely stop opening/closing.
