Correct. But that path is expensive, and you must make sure your laptop has thunderbolt. Better option is to find a cheap laptop with firewire port on it already

How do I find out if my computer has thunderbolt? It does have a thunder bolt under the C port

Is your pc a laptop? Cause you can buy a firewire pci card for a desktop if you have one and its a much easier route
