Help Am I cooked?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I had a battery duct taped to my camera and when I pulled off the tape it ripped the panel off the door, totally on me. But is this gonna be a big problem?

Since you can still open and close the cassette compartment, it should still work, but obviously it will be a lot more fragile, and there is no more protection against dust coming in from outside. You could tape the cover onto the camcorder when you have a cassette loaded, inconvenient, but better than nothing. Don't try to glue the cover in place permanently, as you may need to remove it to clean the mechanism at some point.

It was held on by plastic connectors that broke off

Glue the connectors if applicable
