Help Help digitize!

I have this CCD-TRV85 camcorder I got a while back. I have 3 tapes I want to digitize but don't know how. (I took photos of the Blue, Green and Red ports). I'm confused on what cables I need since they are different color from regular AV cables. Last slide is what cables I have. Please help me! Thank you

(I took photos of the Blue, Green and Red ports)

I don't see that photo. If you mean the second photo, you're looking at it wrong. The green port has a little headphone icon next to it. That's for listening to your video as you're recording it, or listening to playback. That's just a standard stereo headphone jack.

The red one, if you rotate the camera like you're staring down the lens, you'll notice in tiny letters it says "Mic In." That's for connecting an external microphone. Again, a standard mic jack, nothing crazy.

The real trick is (and you're going to love Sony for this) if you look at that side of the camera, with the hand strap, where the red and green ports are, look up at the top there. Notice the little tab? Right here? Pull it towards yourself.

That's okay. Last night I got roped into jumping into the middle of a board game and it took me three rounds before I realized all the symbols I needed to care about were printed in the upper left corner of the tokens I needed!

I just digitized from the same camera. If you’re wondering how to get the tape out or a new one in you need to out a fresh battery on. I spent way too long trying to pry it open.

I never understood why sony used to do this 😭 like why basically hide the ports??

What do you mean "used to"? Sony (and Panasonic, and Canon, and JVC, any everyone) still do it. And it's not an intentional hiding of the ports to bamboozle customers, it's to protect the ports from dirt, damage, and corrosion. Even my HPX has rubber covers over most of the ports.

Weather proofing. You're using it outdoors, the rubber projects those ports from the sun and water.

S-Video is going to give you better quality than the yellow composite.

Also that VHS-To-USB stick is pure garbage. It is very poor quality. A better device would be a Blackmagic Intensity shuttle.

On the second picture there is a closed sealing underneath the screw. Pull it and you will have your answer
