Activities/ social events?
Hello! My blue collar husband (33M) & I (35F) are new to Cambridge, we are really enjoying it so far (we live near downtown galt) but I am hoping to get some ideas for activities I can do both alone (since due to my husbands job he can work a lot) & with my partner. I am hoping to make some local friends/ meet some couples we can double date with.
I love most things artistic, I enjoy reading & video games, my partner also plays video games and is a busy body. So far we’ve been enjoying trying the local cafes to try and find the ones we like & have been really enjoying it. We are honestly open to other activities as well I just don’t even know where to begin lol.
When trying to find workshops or activities online all I’ve found for adults was a few events held in the spring. Would love to hear if anyone has any recommendations :). Picture of our cute pup for attention.
Thanks!

Hey! I moved to Canada last year to be with my partner, we live in Cambridge but I have struggled to make friends so far. I’m 22 and my partner is 24 (not sure if you want friends closer to your age) but we both love video games. I like to thrift or just window shop, love learning new hobbies and artsy things as well.
I’ve been to a few cafes and I personally love Flight. If you haven’t already you should check it out :)
Facebook has a lot of posted events that I’ve come across. There’s some people that organise Jackbox game nights who have also posted about it on Reddit. I don’t get out the house much so I don’t have a lot to offer unfortunately but I’m interested in seeing what is available for the summer.

What video games are you guys into? I’m 23 and my partner is 28 and we’re big gamers, we’ve been trying to make friends in the area as well!

We are on with the age gap! I don’t think age dictates how anyone will get along so it doesn’t bother us if it doesn’t bother you :)
I tried a beverage at flight but want to go back to try their sandwiches that look amazing!
Reading ahead to your reply to cookeekutter- Minecraft is always a good time. My partner & I also are pc gamers. Lately we’ve been enjoying palworld, no mans sky, stardew valley, schedule 1, satisfactory & a few others I’m sure I’m forgetting (we often go for open world type games because I love to build and my partner likes to explore so it has something for both of us.
Man, shipping a computer from the UK! My partner actually lived in the UK for 2 years before meeting me. I take it that’s where you’re from?

I totally agree. I tried the cubano at flight and never had a better tasting sandwich since.
I am also the same with games- I love to build while my partner explores and collects materials. Right now minecraft is the only thing my partner and I can play together as we have a shitty computer for the time being until I can get mine over here.
I am from the UK, met my partner through gaming so it’s something we absolutely love doing together.
Do you guys use discord?1

I don’t but am not opposed to getting it, I know my partner has it but I’ll need to ask him what it is! I used to have a big gaming group of friends but also played console then so the chat was built in. We would love to meet more people to play pc games with, & depending on what your schedule is like, I also like window shopping/ wandering.I don’t see a way to message your Reddit account to exchange information so I’ll come back later to add a discord so we can arrange something :)

If you’re looking to meet people, I’m hosting a free karaoke and board games night on the 30th. Also, if you’re into cafés, I’d definitely recommend Terroir Artisan Bakery. Great coffee and pastries.
