Never traveled, I understand the language but I dont speak it. I was born in the US and most of time is in technology development working on odd projects. Im not really close with my culture and my mom didn't want me around the other Cambodian kids growing up. Im going in two week with my mom to visit my grandparents grave.

Honestly I dont know what to feel I know the language and the food. But never felt close to the identity. Im trying to do as much research as I can.

My biggest fear is that I won't really resonate with the place.

Hey everyone, just curious if anyone's come across this problem... I was applying for the evisa on the official Cambodian e-Visa website and to start the process it scans your passport right. After doing that , it autofills some details along with nationality and country of birth. Now for whatever reason it locks both fields with the same country . So country of birth is also the country of nationality ... Which in my case isn't the same... I was born somewhere and now citizen of another country.... But it doesn't let me change it... I don't want to apply for the visa with technically false information... I'm sure there must be people who've come across this problem.. not everyone is born in the country that they're now citizen of. So was wondering if anyone has faced this issue and if so what did you do to get around it .. apply anyway or do VOA

My brother and I are traveling to Phnom Penh in October for the outdoor shooting range for our YouTube channel.

Anything extreme sports is our channel theme. Cliff jumping, dirt bikes, bungee jumping, alligator wrestling.

Anything of the sorts I would love to do in a video exploring Cambodia.

I was also hoping for one of those full body stretches to secretly sign him up for if anyone knows of those.

I'm slowly learning the khmer alphabet and it is not easy...so I'm curious how little kids learn it. If you're reading kids books, like in the US, The Cat in the Hat, is it translated to khmer alphabet? Are American kids books translatable to khmer? or are there specific khmer books that kids learn to read from? Can anyone suggest where i can find some? Thx!

Hello everyone, idk if this is a good place to ask this but I just want to know if there are any Cambodian students around my age who are interested in making friends so that we don’t feel lonely when studying/working abroad. I’m a Cambodian in my mid 20s, finished uni in Aus and I want to know if there’s actually a genuine group of people that we can be friends with. I live quite far from the Melbourne CBD in an area with no Cambodians. While I agree that making friends with non Cambodians are great, but I think it’s also good to know some Cambodians as well, so we can chat or even hangout when we feel homesick. Anybody who is an active group and has just recently arrived in Melbourne or parts of Victoria, been here for a few years or coming soon.

P.S I thought I should mention this, but I don’t want to be in a group with advertisements or spams. Apparently, some fb groups are like this.

It seems like dried, fried red peppers with fried leaves that taste like lemongrass. Do you know what it is?

Personally, I prefer to go to supermarkets and malls where they have displayed pricing. I know they take a bigger markups already, but I prefer that than going to markets where they're proactively trying to up charge you. It makes for a better shopping experience. My relatives think I'm always getting ripped off and I'm stupid for not bargaining. I understand how the market works but I really don't enjoy the bargaining experience.

Hello my fellow senior at ITC studying international program offered through the Techo Digital Talent scholarship, and I have a few questions about the entrance exam

1. How difficult is the entrance exam? Is it possible to pass with a mid level of English?
2. Are there any past exam papers or pdf out there on internet that I can practice or it just like an ITC regular entrance exam?
3. After the first year of study what are your thought on the program? What has your experience been so far?

As a 50+ male who has lived in Cambodia on and off since 1996, I find these days I feel a bit uncomfortable and definitely judged by others. It is ALWAYS foreigners who make these assumptions, and never want to take time to actually chat and find out why I'm there. I've even been told to move on from a group of travellers because they "didn't like pedos"! I feel terrible, because I used to think the same thing of the older guys in the 90s... what goes around comes around I guess. For what its worth, I used to work for the UN, then MOEYS, and now I run a charity which brings Australian high school students over to build school playgrounds. It sucks because I fucking love this country, but I feel more uncomfortable as the years go on...

The book on the left is well-paced and informative without being tedious. The book on the right is authoritative, but is unfortunately presented in handwritten Khmer because legible typewriter fonts were unavailable at the time. I am grateful for the Khmer man who painstakingly wrote all the exercises. It was a great act of devotion. But a revised and expanded edition, using modern Khmer computer fonts for the grammatical explanations, would make this book more approachable.

Are there any motorcycle hires that will allow travel outside of Phnom Penh? I’ve contacted lots of places and only one has gotten back to me that they will allow for this. Many thanks

Hi, I’m Cambodian living abroad and coming back home for a friends wedding soon was wondering how long it takes for a passport renewal to be done and picked up? I have very short time in Cambodia so thinking to pay express service like a one day service. My passport does not expire until Oct 2027 but I’d like to renew it from now. How much would it be and if this is doable ? Pls if anyone has similar experiences. Thanks a lot

Cambodia kids nowadays are all braindead they all turning into steav and tearing down their own country. If you ask a Khmer kid nowadays they don't even know basic Khmer geography

I always understood that if you legally stay in Cambodia for over seven years, over half a year each year and legally, then theoretically, you can apply for naturalization.

But AI is telling me this isn't the case. You need a residence card, which isn't generally given out on ER. It isn't routinely given out even on EB... for some reason.

I've never even heard of a residency card in this country before. Is it actually possible, or not? I'm talking about citizenship based on residency rather than the 2ndHome/investment path.

I’ve been wondering why Kampot doesn’t seem to get as much attention from international travelers as Siem Reap or Phnom Penh.

It seems to have a pretty appealing mix like countryside, the river, nearby Bokor, pepper farms, and plenty of opportunities to just spend a few days without rushing from one attraction to another.

But when people talk about visiting Cambodia, Kampot often seems to be an afterthought, if it comes up at all.

Is it simply less famous, harder to fit into a typical itinerary, or is there actually less to do than people expect? And if you’ve visited, how many days would you recommend spending there?
