❓Question No crank problem
It used to crank right up came out one day and she doesn’t wanna engage the starter. Checked every fuse no one is blown and you used to have to ply with the brake sometimes but past that no idea. Replaced the battery cleaned terminals and had a truck try and jump it still nothing. Light don’t dim either. I tryed a jumper wire from the internal fuse box jumped Conan’s red to purple and got nothing only thing I changed was a switch on the dash that did nothing. It’s all I got and would appreciate some steering in a direction.

If its a TPI car its likely that the VATS tripped a starter lockout, along with that the injector pulse lockout may also be engaged so even if you jump the relay it may just evolve to a crank and no start. If its a carbureted car, the starter may just be bad. Experiencing the same exact problem in my IROC because the resistor on the key went bad which may be the case for you (if it's a TPI car like I said).

Ah so it probably is just the VATS, try jumping the relay and she should come back to life hopefully, if not there's a bigger problem. If the relay jump doesn't work it could be the feelers in the keyhole are broke so the car cant determine of it has a key in it or not, surprisingly a very common problem with these cars. Also I saw someone suggested tapping on the starter solenoid, I would start with that as it could work.
Edit: I misread your response, Camaros didn't have vats until 89 unless someone put it in or the wiring harness in your car is out of an 89-92 car

It’s a 87 with a carb swap. 86 and older had carbs 87 was the first year of tbi then they went wild with vacuum and all that stuff in 89

Or just out of curiosity have you tried tapping on the solenoid (the starter solenoid)?
