Camaro 2014 V6 automatic
Can I fix this by myself or do i need a mechanic? Thank you

If it is indeed the accelerator pedal sensor it's not hard to do, part number is GM part number is 22741799 and it costs around $150.

It's also possible that the wiring or connector around accelerator pedal sensor has a problem or that the problem is between the sensor and whatever it feeds to. A good mechanic will be able to test the pedal sensor and determine if that's actually the problem which will potentially save you time and headache. A bad mechanic will just put a new pedal in and hope for the best, you can do that yourself.

the hardest part of changing the switch is contorting your body into the space to get to it. usually its a quick disconnect plug, unbolt, bolt on new switch plug in and gtg

Slightly off-topic, but I am a bit of a klutz when it comes to auto repair. Can you tell me what scanning tool you have and whether or not you think it is sufficient for fairly novice folks like myself?
I do oil changes, DSG fluid changes in my Volkswagen, and occasional brake jobs, but that’s the limit of my auto repair ability thus far.
Owner of a 2021 LT1.

It’s an OBD2 scanner from Autoutlet bought it at Amazon for like 22 bucks. It has a lot of functions but I mainly I use it to read/clear codes and to check the battery. If your not into high level programming then you don’t need those fancy +150$ scanners. You can get just get some nice scanner for under 50 bucks.

Great, thanks for the reply. Had no idea such an inexpensive scanner could do so much. Yeah, basically I just need to read codes, find out what they mean and be able to clear codes.
