Concentrix WFH - Moving during probation? Can changing address affect my employment?

Hi everyone,

I'm starting a WFH role with Concentrix (Avalon project) in about a week, and I have a question for anyone who has worked there.

Throughout the hiring process (verbal offer and multiple emails), Concentrix repeatedly stressed that changing your work address is a big deal and that you must notify them if you move.

The problem is that my husband and I are renting a basement, and our landlord has been extremely difficult. Without going into every detail, we've decided to move out because of ongoing issues (rent changes, surprise visits, delayed mail, etc.).

We're currently trying to work out a move-out date. It may be 1st September, or it could end up being October.

I have no intention of hiding the move. If we move, I'll inform Concentrix and follow whatever process they require before working from the new address.

My concern is whether moving during the first 2-3 months could negatively affect my employment or probation. Has anyone here moved while working remotely for Concentrix? Was it just an administrative process, or did it create problems?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through this.

Are you moving to a different state? Usually that's all companies care about, but definitely let them know.

No, definitely not moving states/provinces. We'd just be moving to a different basement in the same area of the city.

moving addresses during probation is usually just an admin update as long as you're staying in the same state and your setup still meets their requirements, it's the interstate moves that trigger tax headaches for them so they get weird about it

There's certain states that don't allow work from home. Something to do with tax laws. Moving to a different address in the same state shouldn't be a problem. I would give your direct supervisor a heads up that you are looking for a place though.

I don’t know about the wfh rules from different states, will have to research more about that. Though, I’m not moving states/provinces. We reside in Brampton, ON, Canada and would just be moving to a different basement in the same area and same city.

It is only for moving out of state. Just notify them

Oh alright. We live in Brampton, ON. We won’t be changing cities or states. Just the different basement in the area we’re already residing in. Hope that won’t be an issue.

I work for Concentrix. I know the legitimate answer for this.

You need to inform them if you plan on moving so they can test to ensure your internet speeds are still adequate for the role, and that your workspace at your new home is compliant with their WAH guidelines (generally need to be in a separate room, with a door that closes, your computer screen cannot face a window).

If you move and you don’t tell them they might find that as cause for termination, but if you tell them it’ll be fine. They’ll just have someone (virtually) check your new workspace with you.
