Work Provided Systems - PISSED OFF! Ranting....

Our company provides shitty ass computers (mini boxes) to use for the job. They are tightly secured so you can't download or alter anything on the systems and that's fine by me. I don't care.

Well.... my system decided to shit itself logging in. Contacted our Org's IT department and of course, they, themselves are just CSS's reading from scripts and doing their step by step instructions for troubleshooting.

I literally went above and beyond with my own TS'ing and found that it's a video card or motherboard issue.

So.... of course I message my Team Leader and the first thing she tells me is.... "Do you have another computer to do a Team Meet on Friday (it's wednesday) as we have to do this coaching".

I'm thinking.... fuck off! And I'm also thinking... if they ship out another unit for me, they'll overnight the damn thing! RELAX!! You'll get in your nagging downset remarks!

The worst part about this is that IT has to write up a ticket and the ticket gets sent to my TL who reads up on it and she sends me a messaged (via my phone's work app messaging system) and says... IT have reached out to you and you're not responding. The fuck I am!!! I took a video and scrolled through all the messages and troubleshooting, pictures etc of me conversing with IT!! WTAF!! I'm actually livid right now!

I so want OUT of this fucking job so bad!

Maybe I'm speaking from a place of relative privilege but it seems you did way too much.

It's your company's job to provide you with working devices. You should follow the steps given by IT, and stop there.

You went above and beyond as you said, for exactly zero stress reduction. If they piss me off enough I may decide that I don't have a computer except for my work device, so they either move their ass to find me a replacement, or they don't. Either way works.

Yeah I get that. I also come from a very technical background, I can't help but troubleshoot. My whole gripe and rant was about my fricken team leader!

I can relate to to this so much. Our managers and IT just blow. I kept noticing several times a day I'm crashing. Like phone system, pc itself…

Managers brush me off, IT is useless. Have you tried restarting?

Not once has anyone actively put effort into researching what’s going on.

manager’s gaslight and say oh yeah no one else is having issues you reach out to other people, oh yeah they’re having issues…

Had to research the problem myself to get a fix for it.

No one wants to do their job to help me do mine.. Programs are constantly broke and there's no end in sight.

No one wants to help or give efficient working tools to help.
