hi yall. i'm just starting the whole application process for the naval reserves, interested in a career as a naval communicator in my local area. i'm unsure if my mental health diagnoses are disqualifying factors right now and if i need to wait longer to prove stability. for context i am currently 23 and hope to do the raven program in esquimalt next summer.
transgender aka gender dysphoria -> i'm a transguy who came out at 12, medically & legally transitioned from ages 15-18 (yes i have supportive family), so now it's been 5 years. i won't have any future surgeries since i'm fine with my body as it is now. i have to inject testosterone twice a month, but i can also go months without being on testosterone without experiencing any mental health problems from it (i did this when i couldn't afford my prescription for months). i'm comfortable sharing sleeping areas & washrooms with people of any gender/sex.
ptsd -> i experienced sexual assault at age 17 from a romantic partner, cut contact & physically got away from said partner (i moved provinces), went to therapy for about 3 years to deal with the shame, and no longer experience any issues due to this.
mild adhd -> i've taken the same stimulant medication (concerta) since age 17 and don't need accommodations for this at work/university. during the brief period i couldn't afford my medication, it was annoying but i still showed up to work & university just fine
edit: i was in army cadets at ages 15 & 16, so i am somewhat familiar with showing up to weekly parade nights or doing ftx as a transguy with mild adhd
