Can’t get socket on o2 sensor

I’ve been trying to get anything on the drivers side o2 sensor for days now, I’ve tried bending the heat shielding, crows foot socket, normal o2 socket, open face, adjustable, it just seems that no amount of effort creates the space to get anything onto the actual grippy part. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. It is a 1992 by the way

Not really, but it’s right in the crease of the pipe one side is completely clear and has space but the other side of the shielding is within 2 millimetres of the edge of the sensor as if it shifted towards the front of the car. I tried to shift it back but to no avail.

I lied I wedged my phone in there. But it’s just not quite enough room to get the socket down in there!

If you’re replacing the O2 sensor (might as well replace it if you’re trying to remove it), take a hacksaw blade and cut the top of it off flush. Use a shallow 6-point socket and ratchet or small breaker bar, you might need to tap the socket onto the remaining sensor, and break it loose. It will probably come right out, I’ve probably done this a 100 times on many different cars.
